from an Oceanside resident re: my query
"Oceanside has not been evacuated, and it probably won't be as of this morning. I feel very safe here, and all of my family is right here with me on the coast.
Camp Pendleton has been evacuated in some parts. I just heard on the news that there are 3 fires on Camp Pendleton. Camp Horno fire burned all of the way to I-5 and jumped the freeway to the west side. I think they said it was 4000 acres. Margerita fire is a small one on the east side of CP, about 200 acres. A new fire near the front gate (Oceanside Harbor side) started this morning and is 70% contained. Didn't hear acreage.
There is a fire in the De Luz canyon area of Fallbrook (Rice Canyon Fire) that is still very volatile, and and is bearing down on a friend of mine's home right now. He just had 30ft. flames burning brush about 1/2 mile from his place.
If the De Luz fire burns through, it may very well make it to the north east corner of Camp Pendleton. It's all hills and valleys in that area which make it tough to fight the fire. I've got a lot of friends out there giving me updates, and I just hope they stay safe."
and from another friend here in Denver (Air Force)
"I'm gonna head there Monday, we have two planes there now slurry bombing it. MAFFS is on baby.

The plane in the pic is ours. We have four planes dedicated to this. Tail numbers in orange are 2 and 5."
