Engine failure caused a C207 to ditch in Auke Bay 3 miles from Juneau airport. Pilot ditched the C207 some 80 feet from the shore of a small island in Auke Bay, all 4 passenger's and the pilot swam to the island and were picked up by helicopter's.

Good to hear everyone is safe, the plane sunk...:(

Wow. Glad to hear everyone okay. Even the hypothermia from immersion is a concern up there, so this was a good outcome

If nowhere good to set down, right next to shore in water is my next choice. Glad they made it.

Glad that it worked out for everyone.

Airplanes can always be replaced, but human life cannot. Glad to hear they made it out safely!

Glad everyone is safe! Was it equipped with floats? Or just flown by Alaska Seaplanes?

Coghlan Island? (sp) Was it the T207? I had problems with that plane last year. I almost had to set it down in Funter Bay.

And good to hear all aboard had no injuries.

i was fishing this am out there. don't know about the accident but vis 1 mile, RA, ceilings 200'

not nice weather. wind 10-15

That is the plane I was thinking. I put about 60 to 70 hours on it last summer. I am really interested in what caused the loss of power.
I think it's going to be a bit before they know what caused the loss of power, they first have to recover the plane. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Thanks Bill. I have an idea what happened but I don't want to start the speculation games.

It's refreshing to see a headline that says "emergency water landing" instead of "crash". Most off airport landings are classified as the latter by media.

Really great the captain and pax were able to swim to shore unhurt.
