Do the "terrorized" residents of Schuylerville (or however it's spelled) realize how incredibly idiotic they sound?

That the dude sent a dick pic to an apparently much younger woman and was rebuffed, so he's stalked her for the past FOUR YEARS via not only airplane, but on the ground as well. She's got a restraining order against him but he keeps flying over.

Regardless of whether he's breaking any FARs, the guy is pretty clearly a lunatic and is putting himself where nobody wants him. This doesn't look good for any of us.

I actually watched that video. I don't watch the local news much, but that is channel 6 out of Albany. Schuylerville is just north of Albany, pretty much on the Hudson river, near Saratoga Springs. So this will probably get some traction, because Albany is kind of a small town. From the video, the guy violated an order of protection on camera while the TV crew was there interviewing the lady. Doesn't seem like the sharpest crayon in the box.

I've never heard of him, but that isn't saying anything, I don't fly out of Saratoga. Gliders kinda scare me.
 
And, here's the next part of the story. As you saw in the OP, he was there in his vehicle and they caught him on camera. That was May 25th. He was arrested on Tuesday and a judge ordered him not to fly. This morning he got up in the plane and did it again, and the cops met him at the airport and arrested him again.

NOT the brightest bulb, and an absolutely terrible reflection on the rest of us.

I never understood the mentality of the stalker. How do they think this is going to work. Is he realistically waiting for some day he pulls up and she’s going to take her top off???
our local claim to fame stalker wise is the Sarah palin stalker is from our home town. He did federal time, was subject of multi-state manhunt. Gets out of jail and goes to her house in Alaska. Delusional.

Especially since he seems to be playing “I’m not touching you” by remaining high enough over the populated area to not get immediate FAA attention. Note that the minimum altitude not being high enough is brought up several times in the report. Rankle enough people, get the “right” amount of attention on the desks of legislators, and this is how we all end up with higher minimum altitudes.

Though it’s not readily apparent that any specific FARs were violated, this pilot is not being a good steward of the craft and it’s getting negative public attention.

If the tomato dropping is as described, that would be the most obvious violation.

But the real issues here are more for law enforcement than the FAA.

I agree that the aviation issue is this lunatic potentially gooning things up for legitimate pilots, particularly and others based nearby.

I did not say that. The dude obviously has more loose. But the woman was damn near in tears at the beginning, maybe it was taken out of context and she was talking more generally about the ordeal in totality and not just about the seeing or hearing a plane.

Law enforcement must consider all possibilities in their investigations. While it may be distasteful in the extreme to state this, confirming the victim's accusations as accurate in such situations is necessary.

I believe anyone that uses stalking to harass a person should be subjected to the full range of remedies available to authorities, including long prison terms. But I also believe investigations of these scumbags should stick to facts. The description of the content allegedly received by the victim was "unsolicited inappropriate photos."

I paused at that, because the news media firmly believes in embellishing the details of crimes, particularly those of this nature. Perhaps their obscuration of the material's nature was to protect the integrity of the police investigation. It's also possible the photos werent pornographic. "Inappropriate" covers a lot of ground.

One would think years of investigation would have resulted in a criminal indictment by now. The offender's appearance at the victim's home screams illegality, and it has happened multiple times according to her. What's the impediment in this situation? Why haven't the police made a move? It's more than curious. Much more.

As for flying the aircraft in a dangerous manner, I'm thinking the guy must be complying with regulations during his "terror" flights, or the FAA would have acted long ago. The mention of tomato bombing pretty much indicated it was an unproven rumor, because if it were true, the victims of vegetable violence or the police would have appeared on camera.

No local TV news organization would miss the opportunity to suggest a Tupolev TU-95 had flown over the village, creating panic and damaging a Chevrolet Cruze belonging to elderly Mrs. Calavetti, and the FAA would have been involved shortly after it occurred.

These are just observations. Please don't toss up posts accusing me of being a misogynist and excusing criminal behavior. I've merely raised questions about the amount of time this man's reprehensible behavior has consumed without concrete action by the authorities. It's puzzling, and if the accusations of stalking presented by the victim are true (and it certainly appears that way), why in hell hasn't the man been called to account?
 
Never understood stalking. Got rejected, but if I just harass, terrorize and be a total creep, he/she will one day be won over. On the ground, water, or in the air it’s a dick move. D.B. A. D. Don’t Be A Dick. Words to live by. Hope this dick gets hammered.
 
My take is that the media had her wound up a bit on purpose. They can do that, to make the story more interesting, and of course the stalker feeds off the emotion, too.

From what I've seen stalkers are people that pick on the weak, and like to make them feel helpless by attempting to demonstrate that no one can control their actions. By going right up against what they perceive are the limits of legal action, for example. They try to play the tough guy, but they pick on the near defenseless and are cowards. They think they're smart, but they're really operating at a functional level lower than that of most working animals.

I don't know if there's any way to fix them. Sure, jail time for the crime, but I don't know if that helps much except for the period of time they're in. Re the story about the Palin stalker above. Medications won't work, because they'll stop taking them. Maybe someday we'll be able to find a medical way to 'zap out' whatever the broken part of their brain is.

Following the local news, seems like he allegedly resisted arrest at the airport, and has 3 misdemeanor charges pending, out on bond. I'll see if I can find a link.
