Buying an unbuilt kit plane located in Canada

Been looking at various Kit planes there are some unbuilt kits in Canada. How much tax does one have to pay bringing it back over the border. I probably would drive there and just trailer it back myself. The closest thing I could find online was 2.5% for a used vehicle, but also stated if the vehicle was made in America, Mexico, or Canada then it was exempt from tax.

I did find information on fully built airplanes discussing FAA registration. It's one thing to buy $500-1000 worth of items in Canada bring it back talking about $18000-35000. If get hit with 10% tax might not be worth even looking at anything in Canada.

Might check with the Murphy people about that. Lots of their kits come to the US.

I was looking at a challenger 2 it was manufactured in the US shipped to Canada not sure how the tax works. Maybe it would get tax exemption.
