Flying up to Buffalo this weekend with the family. Figured we’ll park the plane in BUF and then get a hotel on the Ontario side of the falls. Any recommendations for getting across the border and things to do/see? Not getting a car locally, but planning to get a car mid-week and spending a couple days in Toronto and catching a hockey game.

Fly to IAG, grab an Uber to the bridge, cross over on foot. Enjoy the Canadian side of the falls, good public transport over there as well.
Thanks for the rec! I hadnt paid much attention to kiag, so thanks for mentioning it, that’s where we’ll be going now. Walking the bridge isn’t an option for us, so I think we’re relegated to using one of the taxi services that take you across. The $100 flat fee will be somewhat offset by not needing an uber ride on each side.

Remember passport or enhanced drivers license.

If it appeals to you, high tea at the Royal York hotel. Or plain tea.

passport, passport card or NEXUS. Note that enhanced DL is not the same as real ID. Only a few states issue enhanced DL.

Going to make a similar trip in a couple weeks. Was skimming the FAR 93.71 for the flight restrictions in the area, but they seem to mostly apply to doing scenic flights above/around the falls. Anything important to know for just flying a normal approach to Buffalo?

Nothing special if you don't plan to cross the border.
And if you change your mind and decide to take the scenic route, Buffalo will work with you.

A number of years ago we flew into KAIG, took a taxi to the Canadian side, all great, no rental car needed.

A few months ago we were driving to MA, my partner had never been. We detoured and stopped at the American side for a bit. It didn’t have as many commercial options right close, lodging & food, but still an ok way to experience a visit. No border issues to deal with.
