Threads seem to stay "locked for MC discussion" for days, weeks, months, even years with no final resolution ever being posted. Can you guys just not come to consensus? Is there some sort of filibuster rule? Are you communicating via carrier pigeon (or Ercoupe)? Waiting for dueling to become legal again? Just can't find the words?

Well, it often does take a couple days before everyone logs in and we can come to a consensus. Generally, if the decision is to leave the thread locked, nobody bothers to update the message. If it's producing more heat than light, we will often opt to leave it locked rather than deal with the inevitable pile of reports. Believe it or not, we actually do have better things to do than deal with a bunch of squabbling pilots insulting each other.
 
Doc and I got one closed (“personal attacks” - I took as adult banter) while Lindberg got one MC locked for the misogynistic accusations.

Please open the TNFlyGirl threads back up… we all promise to play fair! Please Mod Gods!

First of all, thanks Mods for all you do. Kind of a thankless job. One common scenario is a new or short time poster starts with some goofy point of view, usually supported by "I have a zillion hours" or some other appeal to authority. I have to admit I sometimes get sucked into these where there is an intersection with something I do know about. Latest example the hydrocarbon supply chain. At some point we just have to let it go.
 
You need to be able to just block specific offenders from the thread instead of locking it.
That would be a fun tool to have.

I'm confident that's sarcasm. The tn threads make every post about the DC helicopter crash seem well reasoned.
 
If you really think that your point of view/opinion is needed for a locked thread, just go back to the beginning of that thread, and read ALL of the posts. Your opinion has been posted already. Probably many times.

Harm to your ego, though, your name is not attached.

We usually reach a consensus within about three to five years. Often times, we just forget to update the thread.

Seriously though, consensus is usually reached pretty fast (within a day typically), but then we get busy with our lives and either forget to close the report for a few days or just don’t bother updating the thread if the decision was to keep it locked.

That’s disappointing. I was hoping for a video of mods with dueling pistols at ten paces. Or maybe a sword fight.

:) I don't know if it was ever actually said at a graduation, but the legend I heard was "Remember, you're a unique and special individual. Just like everybody else."

I found this place first to improve my knowledge and safety in flying...and it's done that. Helping to keep my ego in check isn't a back additional feature, as well as providing some motivation in a few areas, too.

note that there are times when some of the offending posts are deleted/removed, and includes posts that quote the offending post. Not always, but occasionally.

Thank you all for the latest 7-8 comments describing the MOD process. I'm in hysterical laughter, which I desperately needed right now.
