Boeing makes investment in air taxis

Boeing, which knows something about aviation (I know someone will feel the need to disagree), is making a bet on air taxis, with an almost 20% stake in Archer.

Archer Aviation just made its boldest move yet, snapping up three Boeing businesses.

Boeing knows that big airliners will not be the primary form of air travel forever. I know they've made some other strategic investments into various other things that are possibilities for where things might go in the next 20-50 years.

Doesn’t seem like Boeing bought much of anything. The other company bought a number of air taxi and autonomous vehicle related businesses from Boeing in exchange for 20% share of its stock. Seems like a win win for Boeing to give up a few of its non core side businesses and let another company try to use them. If they make it work Boeing gets some of the profit. If it doesn’t work they get rid of a few side businesses that were not doing that well on their own to begin with.
