I will title this thread conspicuously so detractors will have ample warning and be able to skip on past without injury to themselves.

Apparently this was the 5th successful flight and recovery of the same rocket - this was a test of the crew escape system.
I find the flights quite interesting and think they are doing a great job.

Personally I'm a fan of SpaceX....

In relative terms, I'm much, much, more astounded by SpaceX's progress. They've sent rockets into space and recovered them, albeit they haven't reused one yet for actual cargo. At the same time, Blue origin doesn't go near the height SpaceX does. But to Blue Origin's defense they are trying to take people on a ride into sub orbit, not stuff to the space station...both are pretty cool companies, I'm just more partial to SpaceX and Elon Musk.

What amazes me is that they ran the crew escape test on the last mission, with the capsule blasting off the top of the main rocket in flight.

And the booster handled it. No burn-through, no attitude offset. Just landed normally.

Sheesh.....THAT'S the cool part.

I watched the mission. The PR blurb said the rocket would be upset and to expect a big explosion. The rocket powered through the off axis capsule blast and came back to land. I understand the booster is now on it's way to the Smithsonian.
