I seem to remember someone posted here how we can get our name or perhaps at least our address removed from the FAA's publicly accessible aircraft registration database. I cannot find the post. Can we do such a thing and if so how?

Thanks! I had a nutter yell profanities on the radio today. I'd rather he not know where I live. Thanks ADSB.

You can write to the FAA and ask that your address be removed, or you can do it online. But, in order to do it online you must have an account. If you are a current certificate holder, you can do that here:

I don't believe you can completely vanish from the rolls, as your name and the certificates you hold are considered 'public information' and I believe the FAA has some duty to disclose that information.

The aircraft registration is distinct from the airman registration. The link you provided is for aircraft and it is based on a law created at the behest of certain big names.

THe airman registration is a different beast. You're wrong about the name and certificate information being public knowledge. It is not. The Federal Government is enjoined on keeping and disseminating information about INDIVIDAULS (aircraft aren't individuals) through the privacy act. Back around 1999 or so the FAA was called on the carpet for violating that act with respect to the pilot database. The FAA (after some disingenuous bleating by commercial interests like the Kings) got a limited exemption from the act and restored the database with an opt out provision. However, the FAA has to this day refused to obey the law and allowing a person to fully opt out having their private information (including medical certification which shouldn't ever have been in the public data to begin with). Note, there's no public interest in this abuse. The information for commercial pilots and their employers is handled through a non-public database access (PRD).
