Brent and I flew to Florida Monday to meet with the broker, mechanic, interior person, avionics shop, etc.

We didn't expect to spend the whole day Tuesday at the shop, but that we did. We started out looking at other Mooneys that had the same type of paint our plane was to have. That was followed by a brief introduction to the folks at Sarasota Avionics, and we would visit them later in the day.

Side note: they had one of Patty Wagstaff's competition planes (Sarasota is one of her sponsors) out on their ramp, and Brent and I had fun oogling the plane. Later in the day, while we were tied up in a meeting, she came in in her Cirrus, inspected the plane, and then had a crew member fly it out. Man, would we have loved to been there to meet her. Oh well.

We then spent quite a while with the interior lady, looking at various photos of the styles of seat coverings, etc., and listened to all of the options. After all of this, we finally came to a conclusion on how to do the interior.

Then, lunch, and off to another airfield 45min away to look at the work being done on the plane. They had noticed extra rivets on one wing panel on the right side, and once the inspection ports were off, noted that someone in the past had put a patch on the skin by riveting a patch to the inside of the skin. They removed that panel and are replacing with a new skin. One skin on the pilots side is also being replaced, as it was damaged in the gear up.

We were also shown the original crank, and the prop flange had been cracked in the gear up. So, this engine is overhauled to new limits using a brand new factory crankshaft. Should be good.

Then, drive back to the main facility, and we went over to have a meeting with the team at Sarasota, and using photos of the panel, told them what we wanted to buy and how to re-arrange. So, we have the quote on that, and will likely do the panel upgrade.

Pictures: these first four are of the plane as sits.

Very good. Hands tucked behind the back to ensure you don't leave fingerprints on her toy. :D Nice looking plane. Both of them, actually.
