Beechjet emg landing in Buffalo - double engine failure 6/10/2017

If anyone ever comes back to this post, they will presumably be aware that there were several flameouts due to DEF (fluid used to control diesel emissions) being inadvertently loaded into, or contaminating, the Prist (anti icing fluid)tank on the refueling truck. DEF reacts with jet fuel and creates crystals that can block the fuel filters. Some aircraft, including a Citation II had dual flameouts.

Considering DEF is urea dissolved in water, the highlighted part is incorrect. The water freezes to form ice crystals that blocks the fuel filters. No chemical reaction happening.

I read somewhere the China has stopped production of DEF, so if true, expect shortages soon.

Glad I drive an old diesel....
