So as a CFI - Fixed Wing I may be a little embarrassed to say this but for the life of me, I can not find it in the FAR’s or the info on the FAA site about knowledge testing.

I’m going to knock out my training for lighter-than-air and I’m curious as a CFI or even as a Private Pilot, Fixed Wing, would you be required to take the written test for lighter-than-air; or do we get a “by”?

Anyone with knowledge?

Thanks,
Justin

There are a few questions on the BGI and/or AGI exam, IIRC. Have you taken a look at the LTA ACS (or PTS if they haven't changed it yet?)
If it's an add-on like the glider, probably won't need the written. But what do I know? I've had to take the instrument written multiple times since I never get to the checkride. Not as bad as Denverpilot, who took over 20 years.....

61.63 was it, no test needed! Thank you!

Correct. No written test needed. I was private SEL first, lighter than air second.
