Sounds pretty lame. You get the opportunity to pay them boat loads of money to be a beta tester. A proper company would simply produce 10 or so non TSOed units and then offer them up for free install and use for a limited time. Since these units are supposed to be plug and play, at the end of the test period you hand them back, or maybe have the option to buy them at a super low price.

To you, it may sound lame. To some customers, it sounds like a small company working with its customer base to fund development of a new product and get it out the door.
I think both Avidyne and its customers wish the process had gone faster. Still, I think there are customers who are happy that there is a competitor to Garmin and are willing to support them.
