Hello,

I have a small Cessna 172 model (from a toy store) on my desk at work. That's it. I'm wondering what everyone else has and where I can get it.

For example, I've seen some cute stuff for sale at flight schools or FBO's (really cool copper looking multi engine plane pencil sharpener, engine cylinder lamps, etc).

What do you have, and where did you get it (clothing excluded from this conversation but luggage / bags OK)?

I really, really want one of these as a flight bag but at $100 - $200 they just aren't worth it:

One of my co-workers knocked my KLXV mug off my desk at work and broke it. So I'll be heading up to Leadville this summer to get another one I guess.

I don't have any other aviation stuff at my desk other than a spare Colorado Wing CAP hat and computer desktop wallpaper.

I used to have a bigger cloth cubical "wall" where I hung the map from the AirVenture grounds every year. Different people gerbil farm furniture at the new employer. Not enough cloth "wall" space.
 
I should say, your stuff at home / in the car counts, too. I know a pilot who has a "I'd rather be flying" license plate holder, for example.
 
I have a variety of model airplanes in my office... C-17, P-51D, biplane, F-15, etc. I keep adding more die cast models, but they get pricey at times. One of my office tarmac wishes is an F4U Corsair. I'm still shopping for one of those.

I have other aviation related items as well, but that's what happens when you sell aviation products.
 
I have an Ohio Aeronautical map on the wall behind me. :) Got it from Ohio Department of Transportation for free. It's really cool. It's probably 20x30. Has all the airspaces and whatnot (just like one big sectional of just Ohio) Have a bookcase full of aviation books. Have a picture of my home field as wallpaper for my computer at work.
 
Remove Before Flight key ring is about it right now. I'm looking at picking up a set of instrument coasters from Sporty's. That's about it for now, but I'm considering laminating a sectional to the top of my desk and giving it a few coats of urethane. The jury's out on that though.

My dad and I did that on the coffee/break room table at the hangar and it turned out great.
 
My office is full of stuff. I have an exhaust valve from a B-17, an artificial horizon from a b-25, several stearman photos, my solo shirt, there are also some cessna wingtips ive not carried home yet. There is more but its buried under the computer equipment stacked in my office.

My employees think im nuts.

I saw those and thought they would make a great gift. I saw them in a tiny flight school at San Luis Obispo airport.

Doing an image search for them made me stumble upon these instead:

Bookshelf full of aviation books. Stained glass biplane made by my grandfather, 16" wingspan mahogany model of a Super Constellation, and various smaller model airplanes I put together myself all on top of aforementioned bookshelf. Cockpit floodlight from a Super Constellation on my desk (been thinking of modifying it to use as a desk light). An Ande Rooney "Flight Instructor" porcelain sign that I'm still looking for a place to hang up on a wall. A couple E-6b's laying around, lots of old navigational charts...

couple of signs: Airplane Pilot on duty and "Flying is the second best thing known to man; landing is the first" or something to that effect. We have the coasters with the altimeters on it. We have a clock with the 1-0 on it. It's surprising all the aviation stuff. Not counting the movies!

I know signs at airports don't count, but POA has an annual 6Y9 fly-in and this is posted at their little pilot shack there:

I see a lot of stuff I'd love to have around. Like a taxiway light made into a desk lamp, that sort of thing. I figure that, like my Harley piston ash trays, as I am able to fly more, hang around FBOs and hangars and other pilots, and eventually own my own plane -- I'll probably have a few opportunities to fabricate the occasional "Hey, cool!" piece of furniture or decoration. I'm kind of looking for a prop blade to turn into a decorative lamp, for example.

We ride a Harley, and some friends of ours have a Gold Wing. When he put new mufflers on the Wing, Stew took the old muffler tips and turned them into a pair of shelf supports in their study. Way cool. That's the kind of thing I want to do. Of course Stew's a lot more artistic than me.

Was there a price? I didn't even look. When I saw they wanted $99 - $400 for the "photo frames" I knew they were out of my price range.
 
This is why "window shopping" was invented. It is still cool to look at this stuff, even if you don't buy it.
 
In my office right now I have a clock that looks like an altimeter, a vintage military flight computer, a reproduction antique Travel aire poster, and an authentic add for a Piper Cherokee.
 
Well, now after seeing all the other posts, I feel silly for posting this, but:

I have a Cessna 140 clock on my office wall and an antique porcelain round Cessna sign above my Credenza.
 
I've got the Ohio DOT sectional map on the wall in the hangar. Tons of books and magazines in the hangar and at home.

On my desk at work, I have my old attitude indicator and a directional gyro I bought from somebody else. Both have the cases cut away to show off the inner workings.

Mary and I spent eight years acquiring all of the aviation "stuff" that adorns the walls of our 23 aviation theme rooms. We've collected everything from entire Taylorcraft empennages, to the pitot-static probe off the nose of an SR-71 Blackbird, to a lunar module turn-bank-pitch coordinator -- and hundreds of other more mundane items.

It's been amazingly fun, since if you're going to have a Reno Air Race room, you have to actually ATTEND the Reno Air Races. And, of course, for the Apollo Room, we had to go to Cape Cannaveral. The Lightning Room required a visit to the Richard Ira Bong museum in Superior, WI, while the Constellation Room meant getting some stick time in a Lockheed Constellation.

Multiply times 23, rinse, repeat...and you've got aviation nirvana!
