waiting for a gate to open in Athens Greece and asked cost of a gas here...over $14/usg
here plus some misc tax and fees .... not as much as I thought for such an international airport in this time frame , but no one really wants to explain other fees for private aircraft until you pull into ramp and a captive audience, and from my experience flying part 91 in Europe years ago such costs seemed to be negotiable..Europe typically has landing and handling fees, as well as misc flight planning fees whether you want it or not. avgas here is usually 2-3x cost in USA in my experience but others fees we don't have in US can add up quickly. my past experiences flying part 91 in central and south America and Caribbean is about same negotiating costs.
so, even at $6-7/g @ home is a bargain compared to most outside US. ...hope this takes the sting at the pump a bit easier. it also seems no one knows anything about alternative avgas here, as well. I'm glad to have an experimental that burns regular car gas.
