    HEY PARTY PEOPLE.

I'm flying to Arizona tomorrow. I want to do a touch and go at two airports on my way, with a final landing at my destination. That should give me the 3 landings, total distance of 300nm, with one landing 250nm away required for the commercial.

Now when I pick up flight following from the home drome... do I say my destination is the first airport where I plan on doing a touch and go and then pick up flight following for each segment? Or do I say my destination is in Arizona via my two touch and go airports?

I'd say first airport and when they switch you to CTAF or tower ask them if you can keep the code and state your intentions.

I would treat the three flights separately. You have lots of time. Nothing wrong with asking to keep the code; it's just not necessary.

The "via" stuff will get lost at the first handoff. No point in saying it.

Particularly if you're landing at a Class C or TRSA airport (Palm Springs has one of those).

The controller was giving me to SBD tower and I just asked him if I could keep the code. He told me to get back with him on the go and he'd give me a new code since I was going far far away. So that's what I did. Touch and go and a couple minutes later "Cherokee 234 is back with you..." and he said "Deer Valley, right?" gave me a new code and all was right as rain.

Easy in and out for me. But when I arrived there were 4 planes waiting to depart.

And apparently 115 kts isn't a typical approach speed for your airport as I was instructed to reduce speed for the Skyhawk that was flying at like... A reasonable speed.

    Cutter was great. FB_IMG_1479795416214.jpg

Why do you think I said they're great?

Last FBO only had a boyfriend to take a picture with next to an orchid. 7 out of 10.

You need to get out your markers and color in another state on your map. :)

Yea the South runway gets busy with the Korean and Chinese Airforce (Transpac and Westwind). Although I have never had to wait long at all to depart.

Ok, I lol'd when I read that. You must have learned from those knuckle head instructors in So Cal who teach you to fly 747 patterns.

Yeah... But I have a 140 so I can deploy my speed brakes (barn door flaps) in a hurry. Comes in handy for when you're being chased down by a jet. Lol

Wow, 115 in a 140. You must have been going down hill with a tailwind.

As long as you're not having your fillings being shaken out at the time.

I had that experience at KBUR. Best forward speed requested on the ILS, with a 737 behind, with continuous light to moderate chop reported all the way to the ground (and I sure was getting a workout tracking that localizer).
