Arion Lightning Crash - Pilot Walked Away

The airplane help up well. Not surprised he walked away as long as he was belted in.

Looks like he followed the right course of action: found a flat piece of land and flew it as far into the "crash" (controlled emergency landing?) as possible. Avoiding a stall/spin scenario is paramount.

Couldn't someone have given the guy a ride given that his airplane was wrecked? Why make him walk?

I'm not surprised it ended well.
The Lightning has a VERY robust airframe.
180 kts Vne, and +4 -2 Gs

Always a good thing ,when the pilot walks away ,after an incident.

Looks like a successful off airport emergency landing to me, not a "crash".

The "crash" quote was a reference to Bob Hoover's suggested procedure to survive an off airport landing.

I was referencing the thread title, not your post. ;)
