Got a add for IA subscription today they suggest one annual every 3 months, not 4 per year? To comply with FAR 65.93(a) (1) through (5).

Send them money and they will tell you why. He did say it was an ad/subscription. :D

Seems they are taking liberties with reading 65.93 is all. If the FAA wanted an inspection done every 90 days it would say that rather than the 4/year(ish). Just like it says 3 to/landings in 90 days for pax currency.

§65.93 Inspection authorization: Renewal.

(a) To be eligible for renewal of an inspection authorization for a 2-year period an applicant must present evidence during the month of March of each odd-numbered year, at an FAA Flight Standards District Office or an International Field Office, that the applicant still meets the requirements of §65.91(c) (1) through (4). In addition, during the time the applicant held the inspection authorization, the applicant must show completion of one of the activities in §65.93(a) (1) through (5) below by March 31 of the first year of the 2-year inspection authorization period, and completion of one of the five activities during the second year of the 2-year period:
(1) Performed at least one annual inspection for each 90 days that the applicant held the current authority; or

The confusion is over the 4 per year in one quarter or 1 per quarter or 90 days of authority issue.

It doesn't say within each 90 day period, it says for each 90 day period.

If you have the same guy do your oil changes and you fly a good amount you could go to the FSDO and get a progressive inspection program approved. That way you never have a prolonged 'annual' and things get addressed over the course of the year at 50hr intervals.

It sounds like they are trying to convince you that you need to pay for their renewal seminar

Actually you are not required to do any annuals, Progressives, or 337s

Prove you are active in the industry, and take the on line training or go to the refresher training that is given each year by FSDO.

Why must it be the same guy?

Why must it be the same guy?

Doesn't have to of course. Just the logistics of having your plane in the shop every 50hrs anyway. Wouldn't make much sense to have the oil change one day and the progressive inspection some other day.

You'll have a very difficult time getting a FSDO safety inspector setting up a progressive inspection.
