Don't challenge Leslie, or she may do that! We're really missing being able to get together with everyone. @flyingcheesehead was talking about everyone meeting up at the airport and having margaritas, but shipping out jambalaya sounds even better. We could do a virtual Zoom Camp Bacon! Grant
Unfortunately, I've heard EAA is going to have the place locked up tight and is telling people to stay away. So I guess I'll just be drinking margaritas in my back yard. You can come by, I'd be happy to trade ya a margarita or three for some chili and jambalaya! We already did! Alas, I think it was organized solely through the Camp Bacon group on Facebook so you probably didn't know about it. I'm sure there will be more.
I'm working on setting up either a Duo, or Skype, or Zoom Virtual Oshkosh for an hour or two each evening of what would have been Oshkosh week. More later. And, of course, Corona will be the beverage of choice. Jim
Boy was I wrong! I completely underestimated the arrogance of 'murican science deniers. Everything has consequences.
Already going through withdrawal, I should be packing and getting the plane today for a departure on Friday! Of course this year the weather looks to be perfect, last year we were running ahead of a wicked storm!
We’re heading up Friday — spending the weekend with friends in Indiana then on to Osh on Monday. Finishing the trip by seeing friends in Iowa the following weekend on the way home on the 23rd.
For those interested, EAA is putting on a massive number of online presentations as part of their virtual replacement of the event and “Spirit of Aviation” week and such. Something like 50 in one week. And not all by Mike Busch. LOL There’s been more than usual leading up to it and I’ve watched some very interesting glider accident / safety stuff as well as a fun presentation by one of the former lead flight controllers at NASA in the Shuttle years. The lineup is pretty extensive. Even @weirdjim is in the list. Worth noting if you rarely look at the EAA presentation lists online or don’t get the e-mails.
Given the increased number of COVID-19 cases, I would not travel and be out and about visiting friends, but it's your choice, stay safe and healthy.
Probably nothing if he isn’t from one of the six counties actually having a problem... with one of those triple the biggest of the next one. Real world data is useful stuff.
Not just theoretical for me. I got back from a big cross country trip Wednesday afternoon; over 3,600 nm. I flew from Atlanta to Vale, OR for some back country flying with a friend, then to Rapid City. My wife flew there commercial and we toured around for a few days. Then we flew back to Atlanta. I had a blast, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the sights around Rapid City. We are already thinking about other trips, but nothing anywhere near as long as that.
Nothing. I don’t have it and don’t know anyone who has had it. We social distance and wear masks where required. It’s not that hard to avoid it and you don’t have to become a hermit. And yes we live in one of the Florida hotspots, Hillsborough County which is home to the Tampa metro area. I refuse to be intimidated by a virus with between a 97% and 99% recovery rate. YMMV...
