Apparently not untill tomorrow, so I don't really care, but can I buy a vowel anyhow?

Airspace within 10 nm:

!DTW 04/228 Detroit, Detroit, MI (DXO) Airspace FLTCK aircraft operations WI an area defined as 420556N0831606W (7.8 nautical miles south-south-east DTW) to 420123N0831244W (13NM south-south-east DTW) to 415746N0832133W (15NM S DTW) to 420527N0833851W (15NM west-south-west DTW) to 421257N0833843W (13NM W DTW) to 421252N0833223W (8.3 nautical miles W DTW) to 420954N0833216W (8.7 nautical miles W DTW) to 420716N0833018W (8.7 nautical miles west-south-west DTW) to 420533N0832701W (8.4 nautical miles southwest DTW) to 420442N0832318W (8.2 nautical miles south-south-west DTW) to 420451N0831931W (8NM S DTW) to Point of origin 1,000 feet-2,000 feet above ground level including DTW runway 04X final and 60DEG either side, aircraft cirrostratus FLC83 Apr 13, 2025 1330Z to Apr 13, 2025 1730Z

Those are our Flight Check NOTAMS. That one specifically is for an ILS inspection at DTW.

For ILS inspections the NOTAMed area will look sort of like a diamond on a ring. For other inspections it is just a circle around the airport.

Note that these NOTAMS do not prohibit any kind of aircraft or operations, they merely serve as a notification that at some point during that period, Flight Check will be operating, and flying unusual profiles in the vicinity of the airport.

Interesting how whatever NOTAM translator you're using for that translated CS, which is intended to be "call sign" as "cirrostratus".

Copied straight from 1800wxbrief.com

And, thank you.

They’re actually making the rounds in my area in the last few days. Doesn’t have much impact on operations. Might get a slight delay since ATC gives them priority but that’s about it.

These Flight Check NOTAMs have only been issued for about the past year. We're just happy that at least pilots are seeing them!

The goal, of course, is just to let pilots know we'll be around, and if we can all cooperate, we'll get what we need to do done quickly and get out of your way, on to the next airport. It's hard to quantify whether they're helping or not, but at least some people are now aware of them.

The one "problem" is that since we don't always know when we'll be at an airport on any given day, the NOTAMs are often issued for a whole 8-hour period, especially at non-towered fields. But during that day, our inspection may only take a few minutes. So it looks like we're going to be there all day, but in most cases we certainly aren't.

Class B and C inspections are much more tightly scheduled. Still, they can go long (or short) depending on what we're checking and if there are any issues.
