What's better than a Comanche with two engines... two of them! One of these planes belonged to Gene Soucy. Any ideas which one? Hint… the paint scheme!

We LOVE comanches, singles or twins. In fact, the shop owns a couple...Piper used to do wonderful work on them out of the factory - we've stripped some and were pleased with how they were zinc chromated out of the factory - when done, the aluminum often looks shiny bright and new! Great aircraft...

Oh man... Drool. Purty birds, and great pictures!

I like how there's one with tip tanks and one without, one A model and one B/C, one with original cowls and one with Wow Cowls, one that has speed splitters/spats/gap seals and one doesn't... Heck, if one of them had the Miller mods and you added a third one with the R/STOL you could do a great "here's how to spot all the various Twin Comanche modifications" guide. :)

Like the 70's retro paint scheme.

I love the Twin Comanche, but the coolest part for me was the previous owner of this one and why it's painted like a Christen Eagle! Gene and Charlie both owned Twin Comanches. This one was Gene's.

It's funny...if I just saw that airplane sitting on the ramp I'd think it was kind of ugly (purely due to the paint, I love a twinkie), but knowing the story I think it's pretty cool. I'm guessing there's some cool photos somewhere of that thing parked with the Eagles.

I can't find any so far, but I've reached out to Gene. I'd love to see them!

I was helping a guy look into a Twin Comanche once. He was from overseas, so had the CD from the FAA shipped to me and I dumped it on DropBox and forgot about it.

Not so long ago I got a notice from Dropbox that they were going to delete the files in the folder, so I looked through them to be sure there wasn't anything important in there, and discovered that the plane had belonged to Frank Borman. Yes, THAT Frank Borman, Apollo astronaut. Pretty cool.

That was my first thought when I saw your beautiful photos. The shot of Tom, Charlie, and Gene brings back good memories. Charlie left us way too early, may be rest easy.
