Ah kids, they're so lovable.

96-99 1996 POF'inS Jeep Cherokee I will NEVER own a Chrys/Jeep/Dodge again. Worst customer service ever, all the way up to regional manager.

100% Agreed. After my neon is paid off, it's going the way of the dodo and I'm never going near a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealership.

Have you made plans for the end of the world? We've agreed on 2 things in the same day.

ditto on the Durango - wife hated it and she picked it out.

However, I really like the Wrangler and love the Cummins that comes in the Dodge Ram shipping container. I don't care about DC since everything I own is WAY out of warranty and I do as much of my own maintenance and repair as I can.

It scared me when I was in agreement with Bill Clinton.

Of course, it had to do with how hot the Bush twins were. :)

Now now, you shouldn't have lustful thoughts about those sweet wonderful abstinent girls. :D

Glad to see I'm not the only one. Surprised some of you my age have only had 2 cars. I think my Colorado is my...

  • 87-92: 87 Acura Integra LS, great car, lots of fun
  • 92-93: 93 Nissan Sentra SE-R, fast and fun, but cheap appearance and materials
  • 93-96: 83 VW Jetta, beater, bought for $800, put Nokain Hakka Pellita snows on it and used it as a ski beater, put on 60kmi, sold to the next guy for $800
  • 93-96: 93 VW Passat GLX VR-6, really nice to drive car, gutsy, good handler, spontaneously fell apart at 35kmi. VW/Audi=NEVER AGAIN!!!
  • 96-01: 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee V-8, sporty SUV, very quick, never gave me a problem, died a horrible death protecting my wife from a red light runner, had 80k on it.
  • 96-00: 91 Nissan 300ZX, fun sports car, kinda pricey on MX.
  • 00-02: 98 BMW Z-3 2.8 convertible, fun fun fun, but then came baby
  • 01-present: 01 Ford F-150 XLT Supercrew 4x4: gas guzzler, but pretty darned nice for a truck.
  • 02-06: 02 Ford Crown Victoria LX: My wife wanted a cheap, safe, non truck/SUV baby hauler. This was it, huge trunk. Blast up the interstate and watch the left lane part like Moses at the Red Sea. Almost tripping over themselves to get out of the way.
  • 04-present: 60 Plymouth Savoy, done up as a mild rod. 440 4V V-8, monster torque, push button 3 speed auto tranny. Passed down thru the family, originally purchased by my aunt Elsie and uncle Soxs in 1960. Sharp ride, draws lots of positive comments.
  • 06-present: 06 Mercedes Benz E320 CDI Turbodiesel. After her "sentence" in the crown vic, and me starting to fly, she wanted to treat herself to a nice car. More torque than my F-150, 27mpg city. A smart, safe, fast, economical car.
  • 07-present: 07 Ford Focus ST, sport sedan version of the Focus, suprisingly fun to drive around town gas sipper.
So, what is that, 12 cars?

I think you need to paint the back end of any car you own with a big day-glo Orange Car sign.

Or maybe invest in strobe lights.

I had passengers in almost all of the accidents and they were not hurt either. Two of the bikes were also totaled in accidents. The XS750 just locked up the engine (it spun a bearing at ~75k miles) going over an open road bridge.
Accident free for 10years and over 300K miles. I did get run off the road by a police officer a few weeks ago on the motorcycle. He pulled out on the road and crossed 3 lanes of traffic aiming right at me. Airplanes sure seem safer to me.

Let's see...

1970-1973 - 1967 Honda 90
1972-1979 - 1954 Buick Special. What a tank. And comfortable. Only had 34,340 miles on it when I got it from my great grandmother.
1973-1975 - 1970 Honda CL-175
1974-1982 - 1974 Subaru DL
1978-1982 - 1966 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup
1981-1999 - 1981 Buick Skylark
1983-1984 - 1976 MG Midget (mechanics delight - you Jeep bashers don't know how good you had it)
1984-1986 - 1978 Datsun pickup truck
1986-1997 - 1986 Dodge Ram 250 3/4 ton van
1989-2003 - 1988 1/2 Ford Escort
1997-2006 - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. 175,000 miles when I traded it.
1999-present - 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport
2006-present - 2006 Jeep Commander Limited

Most reliable over all? The Escort, believe it or not. Most trouble? The MG, hands down. Never walked up to it without a wrench or a screwdriver in my hand. My wife still wished I had kept fixing the Grand Cherokee, she liked it better than the Commander.

Oh, and the 1954 Buick was the only one I didn't buy. 13 vehicles.

You got help on a down payment?!?!?

Am I the only one born after 1970 that actually had to pay for my own first car, in its entirety??
Not born after 1970, but I did too. And every subsequent car, college payment, and practically everything else after I was 16 except room and board at the parent's house.

BTW they didn't let me even HAVE a car until I went off to college, my own money or not.

Hmmm... Have I found a way to nake you show up at Muncie Saturday? :dunno::goofy::D

Yeah, come pick me up at MSN at 10:30. ;)

Actually, I scheduled a flight with my CFI at noon. Takin' the crappy Arrow IV up to do, uh, something. Something related to making me a commercial pilot. :goofy:

Dude, I'll drive!

The funny thing is everybody always wants me to drive to places because I drive the speed limit, and am always looking for who is going to try to kill me next (and I don't drink so they can endulge all they want). Most of those happened when I was sitting still.

Well, since everyone bailed on Muncie, we're looking to head up to Oshkosh to the museum. If weather isn't good Sat, we'll do Sun.
