AeroLED Sync Pattern

I’ve got the Pulsar NSP out in the wingtips and just ordered the SunTail nav/strobe as well as the SunBeacon….

They all have a sync wire. Does anyone know what the flash pattern is for these?
I’m assuming it’ll be wing/tail strobes, then beacon. Or do they all flash at the same time?

Haven't dealt with those specific lights, but on everything else that had a sync wire it had everything flash at the same time.
Now you could build a little delay box and tie it between the unit you want to use as the master and the rest of them, adding delays that would make things flash in a staggered sequence.

I have the NSP and Suntail. They fire at the same time.

If you also purchase the SunTail and the SunBeacon lights and hook all the green wires up, the Wingtip and tail strobes will flash, then in the off time the beacon will flash. It is 180° out of phase to the wingtip strobes.



Please note that if wired in this configuration, you will not be able to operate the beacon independently.

I asked a clarifying question about if the beacon and strobes are on separate switch (with the sync wires all connected), what happens;

To clarify, all green wires do get tied together. Powering up the Beacon should just turn on the Beacon even if the other lights are off. We have about a 99.9% success rate with that. Then when the other lights are turned on the Beacon will be out of sync. The .1% problem is when you have four lights sharing a common communication line and 3 of them are turned off sometimes the beacon does not turn on. The two cases where the beacons would not turn on, that I can think of had two Beacons and they were trying to run both beacons when the other lights were shut off.

I have them on a plane but weirdly like them to not sync, I feel it’s more visible, maybe not…

I just installed the SunBeacon, SunTail and connected all the sync wires along with my Pulsar NSP. I can confirm that the strobes fire opposite the beacon!

I installed Pulsars on our 182 a year or so ago, and ran the synch lines. They flash in synch. Still have the old Aeroflash incandescent tail beacon. It turns on and off whenever it chooses. You might note that the AeroFlash installation instructions call for shielded supply cables with a dedicated return (ground) wire. If you just connect the NSP to legacy unshielded single-ended supply wiring you are likely to experience some nasty radio frequency interference.
