Is there a school in Southeast US that provides accelerated dual instruction for an instrument rating? I'd like to get mine, but there's a shortage of CFIIs in the area. Plus, I'd like to move quicker, if I decide to move at all.

How quickly can an instrument rating be obtained?

If you have access to an airplane for 10 days, these http://www.iflyifr.com guys can get you your rating in 10 days. They bring the instructor to you. It’s not for everyone, but I know some guys who were happy with them.

My flight school in Poplar Bluff, MO can do it. But I don't know if I am close enough for you.

PIC is a great 10 Day option.

Tailwheels down at KLAL also has a great accelerated program.

From everything I've read of testimonials here, and talking to him myself, I would have to agree.

The airport he flies out of is less than an hour from you.

If you're going the accelerated training route, knock your written test out first.
Here's one option among the many out there. However, it is quite different from all the rest.

I have thought about the OBX flight but that is a lot of money for an instructor to ride around in your plane. The struggles of finding a CFII though that isn't tied in with a flight school and who is readily available is frustrating.

No personal experience with other than email contact but IFR6 out of Charleston, SC qualifies as SE. Have Redbird.

Often a CFII who teaches at a school can also do free lance flying. Have you asked around about that? Where I instruct occasionally at a flight school I can also freelance.

The few I have asked either say the will not do it, or the flight school is requiring some outrages insurance addition that my insurance company will not do. They are asking to be named as co-insured or something like that.

Count me in. I used Jeppesen for PPL and IR and I am looking for alternatives for commercial ground school.
