Anyone use this one:

Applaud trying to come up with a better mouse trap.

First thought is that a UBS C battery isn't what I'd pick. Despite best intentions, you're going to run out of battery in flight. Easy to pop in some spare AA's in my LightSpeed.

If it's tunned to the turbine aircraft, then turbine pilots probably aren't going to be listening to a lot of Blue Tooth music, etc.

How durable is this thing with its snap on snap off microphone?

Other questions, such as how sturdy is the mic boom? What kind of support do they offer? How durable are the cords? Lot's of little things that Bose, DC, and LightSpeed have hammered out.

At $700, there's a lot of cost per unknown IMHO.

I fly with pilots that listen to bluetooth music for hours in turbines.

I would have thought turbine pilots, especially those flying airliners, flying as a commercial pilot, would not do that. Learn something new everyday.

  • Up to 40-hour battery: USB-C charging and fast top-ups Is a non-starter.

Most airline pilots don't even wear the headset.l except below 18k feet. Its the GA turbine folks that wear them during the entire flight.

What I wouldn't give for a light weight headset that could stream directly to my bluetooth hearing aids.

Because I don’t want the bother of charging a headset battery or the risk of a headset battery failing when I can just toss in 2 AAs.
Is it a replaceable lithium like the delta Zulu?

The PS Engineering PMA-450C can use Bluetooth from my phone and put it into my headset, so I imagine there's no technical reason that it couldn't effectively do the reverse and pipe the radio audio to a bluetooth headset/hearing-aid. You'd still need a microphone, of course, but I can see a scenario where you're getting your audio from your hearing aids and otherwise wearing a regular headphone for the mic. Would be a good accessibility option and a good differentiator for their audio panel. Maybe reach out to PSE and see if that's something they might be willing to consider as a future function?

That was my thought too.

I have. Several times. They have no plans or intentions of doing this. AFAIK, hearing aids don't use standard bluetooth.

Everything I own is USB-C at this point. If I'm already charging a phone and probably a tablet for flying, charging a headset, too, is a nonissue.

Same here. Prior to this headset, more than once, my headset started buzzing during an IFR approach because the batteries died.

I can charge my phone and tablet in flight. Charging a headset while wearing it not so much.

why couldn't you charge your headset, seems it'd use the same cable? I use rechargeable batteries in my zulus, if they die, darn things are so quiet i just ignore it till i land, don't even bother with replacing the batteries

If just just going wear it without ANR, why not buy a passive headset? I fly often, leave the headset bag in my truck, and like the option of just popping a new set of AA out of my flight bag and replacing the dead batteries when they go dead vs plugging in a charger and waiting.

If the batteries are not user replaceable or require and OEM battery, then I am waiting in OEM support. Unacceptable.

Shrug not a deal breaker for me. If I can't be bothered to recharge at home or in the plane why would i accept being bothered to maintain batteries and purchase fresh ones. 40hrs life would already last mos at a time I dont understand

Why not? It's got cables hanging off it regardless. The battery life is so long you likely won't have to worry about it, but like all other ANR headsets, if the battery dies, it just reverts to passive nose reduction. It still works.

Maybe the battery life is long enough you don’t have to worry about it. Me, I am not screwing monitoring battery use or charging when I don’t have to. And I certainly are not owning a headset that requires return to OEM to replace a battery and having the headset OTS for 2 weeks or obsolete over a $3 battery.
