Two of my students passed their check rides today.
First up, 17 yr old High School Senior for his initial Private Pilot Glider.
2nd up, 30+ yr old F-16 pilot doing a Commercial Glider Add-on .

Added another solo student to my roster today?

14 yr old, he has a year and a half to fly solo before he is old enough for the check ride.

Couple of grand, much more of a time commitment(meaning all day, not logging hours) then money. Best flying there is if you have the patience for getting the weather and launched.

A good friend of mine is a 777 captain. His first flight in a small plane was a glider ride when he was about 20. Immediately afterwards, he asked about how one becomes a pilot. The glider pilot who he had flown with started to explain how to go about becoming a glider pilot. My friend interrupted him with "no, I mean a real pilot".
