A barbecue adventure, the saga unfolds.

It’s a terrible picture, but that’s me, standing, on the left.

That contest was 2 weekends ago. I was doing “double duty”. I was a judge and table captain. TCs bring the samples to their tables, collect score cards, check for anything that might be a DQ, and monitor their judges to make sure there’s no funny business.

Funny business like taking a photo in the 'no cameras allowed' judging room? :)
Yes - there are exceptions when the contest organizer has a photographer for the event.

Funny business like: "Dude, your scores are way out of line from the rest of the table...", "Dude, no finger licking!", "Dude, did you just take out your teeth? (true story)", "Dude, you forgot to put your name/judge number/seat number/table number/... on your score card.", "Dude, don't point out a DQ until the rest of the judges have seen the samples.", and many more.

TCs also verify the entries at their tables are from teams they haven't had yet. The system is set up so each table doesn't judge the same team twice. It's easy for chicken, it's first so you just grab six boxes and go. By the time you get to brisket, you are swapping boxes with other TCs and trying to come up with a combination that works.

Country style pork ribs, brined in sugar and salt mix water, slow cold smoked over mulberry wood, finished out in an 325F oven with three coats of a homemade spicy honey and ketchup based glaze applied every 7 minutes.

All the guests are i8n incognito mode, backs of heads only?

Who are these hoods you are hanging out with SAC? Characters from your books? :) :) :)
