747 wing wag..

If it was a revenue flight, I'd call it idiotic beyond belief.

Since it was an empty delivery flight with (presumably) Boeing-trained pilots / test pilots at the helm, it just looks cool.

I'm always amazed at the angle attack and what looks like(but obviously isn't) slow speed liftoff on those jets. From a distant perspective it almost appears to hover.

The ad popped up and I chose not to proceed.

I think (correct me if I am wrong) on those large planes, the spoilers are not separate from the steering. I believe they can be used independandtly like slowing the plane but I believe they are also incorporated into banks automatically as well.

You are correct. Also, this plane would have been very light, with plenty of excess power, and was probably continuing to accelerate through these maneuvers. I'm not sure if the PF would have been a Boeing pilot on a delivery flight. Either way, I would classify this as "unnecessary, but not dangerous."

Ok, interesting. Spoilers just after liftoff seemed like a bad idea to me, even if they are normally used for banking. I suppose this is somewhat similar to what the MU2 uses...

The roll spoilers on a Boeing are always "on" in normal operations.

An empty 74 could probably take off and climb out with all the spoilers fully deployed. I highly doubt a little wing wag is going to hurt it. That was probably the functional equivalent of hitting a pigeon with the belly.
