6Y9 2026 Fly in/camp out

By records this was my tenth year attending the 6Y9 labor day fly-in. 6 x N686SL, 1 x N8113B, 2 x N271RG (PvT as PIC,) 1 x N5047U. I really enjoyed reconnecting with everyone this weekend. After my departure from 6Y9, Tom and I did a little tour of the UP, grabbing Pasty lunch at Muldoon's in Munising and spending a few hours at North Fox for a swim. Nice to stretch the legs on the RV - I haven't taken any significant trips this year.

Landed last night around 8pm after gallivanting around WI/UP/N.Fox Island with Mark. Hope everyone else got home safe!

Even though Friday was a bust for weather, I'm grateful the clouds cooperated and allowed some belated arrivals on Saturday (including me). Better late than never :)
Also glad we pushed to keep the festivities for an extra day. That was impressive discovering most of the people in the group are musicians: we had dueling guitars, piano, singers. We had some pretty sweet tunes rocking out. Those of us that weren't rocking out were immersed in building puzzles.

Special thanks to the usual suspects: Diz, Brad, Leslie and Grant!
And thanks to Ed/April for setting me up with an ATV for the ride, that was amazing

Note to self: next year I need to pack my telescope -- b/c the stars up there on Saturday were incredible.

A week ago today, the 21st fly in for 6Y9 officially came to an end, with the last attendees heading out mid-morning.

Thanks to all who came. Thanks to those who tried. Whether you had to turn back, deal with storms and power outages, or ended up with conflicting schedules, you were missed.

At first, we thought it was going to be a “drive in,” but as Saturday went on, the weather cleared, planes came in, and we continued on-- as a fly in. The determined, who had to wait out the weather, made it in, just in time for Hoppys. The rest of weekend was absolutely gorgeous.

Special thanks again, to Leslie and Grant who did not disappoint, and provided us all with an amazing breakfast. Yes, we had Kringle.

Thanks to all who helped set up & take down. With the changes this year for the lunch, it wasn’t as pressured as before. I personally need to thank all of you who put up with my stresses in the years past …LOL…and special thanks, too, to Tim and Jnet who quietly help “behind the scenes.”

Looking forward to when our paths again cross.
