Thanks y'all. According to the specifics of my OP, it's pretty clear that the driving mileage rate would not add up to anywhere near the true cost of the flight, and certainly not greater than fuel + oil. As to the IRS, let's just say that the hypothetical pilot doesn't itemize deductions.
