and 3 laps later, I finally got my 709 ride done. The process took longer than it should have due to administration issues at the FAA, however I can't raise one complaint about the people I dealt with during the process. In fact, everye was very nice. Even today when the FBO CF'd the schedule and sent the plane I had booked and had to find another one, the inspector was even helpful there calling around his contacts to find a plane, which he did. The ride was over in .5 in an Arrow.

Congrats Henning,
Now we can let you in the Bonanza!:D
As soon as it comes out of the shop and Leslie gets signed off for the insurance company.

Speaking of the Bonanza, we did go up with a CFI the other day and as soon as we leveled off at 3,500 he leaned it to LOP. It was making 145Kts at ~10.5-11 gph. We made 165 kts at ~ 13+
We can finally pass traffic on I-95.

Yep, cool. It doesn't take a lot more fuel than a 4cyl Mooney to do the same speed, and it's a lot more comfortable on my lower back. Can't wait to see it, it should do really well 7500'-9500'.

Missed it...been gone for a while... don't make me search for it? why did you have a 709 ride?

Congratulations Henning. Sorry you destroyed your wonderful airplane. What airplane do you intend to buy?

Congrats...just watched a guy never even get to the airplane for a 709 ride before the FAA said it was over...I'm glad there is another outcome possible as that was my only experience...until a year ago I did not know they existed.

Well, at least he got his certificate back. I am waiting to see what kind of wings he gets. (Water wings maybe?).

Lol, I've had my certificate back. When the first inspector cancelled, he sent it to me months ago. We'll see what happens with this new boat, might be traveling too much to buy a plane just yet, although an Avid Catalina in a trailer would work for me.

Nicely done sir.

Most FAA people are good at what they do and more than fair, if you give them a reason to be.

Life is good Henning! Glad you are back in the saddle again.

Can you put floats on a low wing?

Yes, but if I am going to have floats, I would have a high wing for docking. I couldn't afford to get in a amphib float plane so I need to dock it. The Bucaneer is the only certified amphib in its price range, and with an amphib I can drive it up on beaches, and clear customs at airports.
