Needs to have a fairly normal field of view that you can pan around as the video plays.

Don't like that, but these videos are completely different. If you watch the Red Bull sample video in the linked article there is little to no fisheye and it gives you a normal field of view and pan/tilt control so you can 'look' around.

Not the same thing. I think 360 video is really cool. I'd love to have a nice setup below the airplane.
