Looks like I will be bringing an eskie with me to meet a pilot at MGY as part of a PnP flight on Saturday as well.

Clear skies and calm winds still forecast for Saturday! Not sure I can fly in those conditions, it's been so long!

Tell the weekend ramp guys to be on the lookout for a renegade walking across the ramp! :)

I did a test run with parking my Arrow on the grass next to my hangar. The ground is way to rough for my liking so I wouldn't expect anyone else to park there either.

I spoke with the people at Commander Aero and they have agreed to let me use their facility for the fly-in. This will put all the arrivals and departures in close proximity to the place where we will be eating. If you refer to the satelite image sent earlier it is the hangar with the red roof. They will move some aircraft out of the hangar to make room for our tables and chair.

Major advantages are restroom facilities close by. No need to shuttle people back and forth between the ramp and my hangar. A refrigerator in the area.

The biggest benefit is that I get to spend more time with my friends, so it is a win win.

I will have my handheld radio so if you want to talk to me on 122.75 I will alert ground crew so they get you parked as quickly. I think the fuel is $5.20 and $5.10 with AOPA discount.

For clarification we will shoot for eating around 1230 local time. I will post a list if attending tomorrow evening and will look for departure posts while waiting on you to arrive.

Commander Aero are a great bunch of folks!

We did our AYA Grumman Convention there in 2010, and it turned out fantastic. Good folks!

Thanks for the kind words. We will meet up sometime. The Greatlakes folk try to get together several times a year. Think toward Labor day weekend and the 6Y9 fly in, Sidnaw MI. That's due north of you and an easy flight.

    Safe travels!!

It was great to see both old and new friends. Well, everyone except EdFred that is. :)

Thanks, Tim, for putting together an absolutely great fly-in. We all owe you one...or two...or three.

4.9 on the tach, 595 NM (including the vectors around CVG bravo). Do I win the prize?

Well, except for our long XC German friends. :). (Who I'm proud to say are two more new friends, gotta love fly-ins!)

Sorry had to take off so soon. We spent a total of 27 minutes on the ground. But we did complete a PnP flight. My wife needs to make sure I know when she makes plans for me!

Thanks for the invite will make sure to hangout longer next time and meet more of you than the 2 Tims.

We ended up with around 38 people and 12 aircraft. Great day indeed. Glad you enjoyed your PNP trip. We will get some other trips scheduled. Would your wife go with you on a flight?

Tim & Jeanette (I'm certain I've spelled that incorrectly),

Thank you for putting this together and providing such excellent hospitality!

Catching up with old friends and making some anew on a most glorious spring day reminded me of everything I love about aviation.
Must. Not. Stay. Away. So. Long.

Excited to have another chance in two weeks at Wings FlyBQ.
And SO looking forward to 6Y9 (although, I'm not in a rush for summer's end... )

3.4 on the tach and a smile on my face :)

And, amazingly (or maybe not so since it's Wright Bros. Airport) you can take a $100 ride on this beast and never leave the runway's safe zone! :goofy:

    Tim,

I have to say, that was the best flyin-event I think I've ever attended. Even my non-POA buddies talked about what a great time they had on the way home. I arrived before noon and couldn't' believe it was 4:45 when we departed for home.

Thanks to everyone for a really great time.

She's been once, we flew to PMH for lunch and it was kind of rough. She hated every second of it. I've been trying to get her to come back around. No luck yet.

Tim and Jeannette, THANK you so much for organizing this event and all the efforts you put into us having a great time. It was great meeting everyone and talking to persons we only knew from the PoA forum.

Oliver and I made it home safely and the plane is in her hangar in which we put 8 yards of gravel last weekend... We also got a few new ideas from what to do for the lady during the fly-in..

OK, here are our numbers for the fly-in to KMGY:
1300 NM and approximately 15 hours flight time... :D This includes the trip home to Detroit.

Thanks again to everyone for an awesome day!

OK, it is my time for thanking some folk. First of all Jeannette that is always there helping where ever she can, Art a local friend from Church that always help grille, AJ who helped with setup and Duncan who helped with tear down and Commander Aero for allowing me to use their hangar.

Each of the three years I have held this event I can tell you that by the Friday before I am wondering why I do this. It is a lot of work and dealing with an over zealous city airport can be draining. I can tell you that when the first aircraft lands this feeling all goes away and I understand the worth of getting my friends together.

Yesterday was no exception as I watched old and new friends mingle and converse. This is really a great group. From friends that have been to all three events to the new couple who stopped in on their flight home from picking up a new to them Cessna. And lets not forget a visit from Dr Bruce and his lovely wife.

Sitting on the couch at home last night talking to J and saying I am really tired, but it's a good tired.

Ok, so as best I can tell we had 13 aircraft and 38 people attend yesterday.

Thanks for all the accolades you have sent but it you the pilot that make a fly-in a fly-in.

So, this year's spring Great Lakes Spring Fling is over, what are we doing next? Any of you can pick a Saturday or a Sunday to suggest we get together. Just post it early enough ro word to get around and hope for good enough weather.

Also one last plug for the 6Y9 fly-in Labor Day weekend. Be there!

Ditto to all the accolades, to meeting new friends, to catching up with old ones- though not necessarily literally "old" ones, and for giving kudos to all who helped put on such a great fly-in. It was an awesome day!

I know how all too well how much time and effort goes in to making a fly in happen. I don't think that it matters whether you have 38 or 138...the planning and effort remains about the same. And we - Brad & I - thank you all for putting it together.

Missed those who couldn't attend-- anxiously look forward to our next gathering...whether it be just a few of us or another organized group. (yes- I will unofficially plug 6Y9:wink2: )

Spent the day pounding seed corn, and various chemicals, into the soil. Staggered home whipped and dirty. No feeling like it in this world.
Rinse and repeat. Probably keep on doing that this entire week (barring a deluge)
Didn't once think of flying or sex. (I think it is the chemicals)

I checked on skyvector.com today and plotted the trip to 6Y9 via Chicago and also by way of Mackinac Island. The difference was a whopping .1 nm, so I think we'll do the circumnavigation of Lake Michigan if the WX and work cooperates.

You know, sometimes fly-ins can be quite depressing and I have to honestly say that this was one of those cases.

I met two great people from Germany who have a better grasp of the English language than I do.

    How depressing is that?

That orange Cessna is going to look good against the green backdrop of the Sidnaw Airport
