Looks like a tractor part that they just drilled and tapped a new hole in to drain with.

It actually IS a tractor part. This came up once or twice on the 170 Association board. You can find replacement glass bowls at TSC.

Actually no it is not a tractor part, and yes it does take the same glass.
The difference is, the aviation style has a stand pipe inside the coalescing screen.
And OBTW only a very few early 48 170s had this type of gascolator

I believe you are right. The glass dome is apparently interchangeable, but when I needed a replacement for the metal base, I had to get it from a 140.
