$150K for a Jet - NEW!

Looks like the offspring of a Subsonex & an SF50.

Probably not. Multiple prototypes. Flight tests. Reenginerring and redesign. More prototypes. More flight tests. After all, Terrafugia is not yet done with the production flight tests and they've been at it for about 8 years.
At 120 mill for FAA certification, the per unit costs would only come down to $150K if he sells out 500 units. He could build one for $150K. Getting it certified is going to bring the price way up. The previously mentioned Terrafugia was originally listed at $130K. It is getting above $330K and they haven't got one out the door yet. Liability insurance is yet to come.

Unfortunately, that cost for certification is probably right. You want to know why new planes cost so much?
