150 down in Ft. Wayne Indiana

Yes, something goofy possibly going on. I guess the 1st call could be to the registered owner?

Nothing good ever happens at that hour of the night.to many possibilities to speculate what happened.

I can think of two long trips where I left around 10:00 at night. One from MI to MS, another from WI to FL. Both times it was to beat weather moving in. I flew about half way then rested up.

I don't have anything against flying during the wee hours, all else being on the up & up. One the other hand, a spur of the moment decision to go flying at 2:00 A.M. Can be suspect.

I log quite a few hours between midnight and sunrise.

As have I...and not much of it was what I'd call 'good'. Comms are quiet, stars pass the time and the sunrise can be pretty, that's about it.

I've never just up and decided to go flying after midnight and I'd be suspect of anyone who has. It's not proof they're up to no good, but it's questionable.

The only thing suspicious to me is that one occupant fled the scene of the accident. THAT is unusual behavior.

I have, but only when I woke up late and decided to renew my night currency. That's usually a few hours earlier, though.

Student pilot making a incognito cross country with a passanger. Standard practice if the crash is survivable is the passengers beat feet out of there before Leo shows up.

Glad to hear everyone is ok!

At least they could flee the scene. Will be interesting to see what happened and why they ran. Student carrying passenger seems possible.

Wow! Gotta love that huge stupid graphic with the story.

Several times when I was living in Texas I would go out in the wee hours of the morning (1-6am) to do my instrument currency in the fog. Otherwise most IMC there is convective and it is difficult to do approaches in actual

I wonder if the authorities will be able to figure out who the plane belongs to? Maybe the ginormous number on the tail might be a clue.
