Was perusing my November 2012 AOPA Pilot and was pleasantly surprised to see our resident AME featured in Alton Marsh's article "10 Ways to Die" on page 74.

Have you told the scofflaw story here before, Dr. Bruce?

Hmmm. I haven't a clue who that guy might be. Alton did a nice job with it. Thank you, Alton.

Seriously, we get tired of the same accident over and over. We gotta teach this stuff or there is nobody to blame but ourselves (and I don't mean JUST CFIs). Now, if someone knowledgeable goes out there and does one of these, it becomes food for thought.....

It is powerful, for example, on the "go/no go" strings that colleage aviators are chiming in....

Wow. You mean I'll actually have to read this one instead of putting it in the ever growing pile? ;)

For a second there, I thought you were announcing he was on a one of those SpikeTV cable TV shows.

It's nice to "know" a celebrity! Way to go, Dr. Bruce! Nice article.

I think that list actually came off the red or purple board. There was speculation that there were really only about 10 kinds of accidents and after a while there was a list and discussion about them.

Since that list was created about six months ago, I've referred back to it when I've read accident reports. There was rarely a problem classifying known causes into one of those 10 categories.
