Too many pets with diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidis, renal failure, UTI, Cushings disease, hyperthyroidism, hepatic disease, fever - well the list is huge....too many of these diseases are missed, when people assume their pet is misbehaving. THEN, if...

    Graves' Disease and Special Issuance

Hello, I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism due to graves' disease back in mid May. I have been on methimazole 15mg for the past 2 months in addition to propranolol 20mg a day. I just received a lab result showing my total T3 and free T4 level is within normal range - being clinically...

    Hyperthyroidism

...confusion. It would be common for someone to lose their own production of thyroid hormone either as result of the disease that caused hyperthyroidism or as result of the treatment. So someone can be on levothyroxin/Synthroid AND have a history of hyperthyroidism. Terry, glad to hear you got...

    Hyperthyroidism

I understand. I think originally it was diagnosed as Hyperthyroidism but after treatment it was decided that it was Hypothyroidism. Anyway, I am on 25 MCG of Synthyroid and my TSH level is right in the middle. Bottom line, I get to fly again and I just wanted to encourage others to eat...

    Hyperthyroidism

...HypOthyroid is when you don't get enough hormone, or none at all, produced by your thyroid and Synthroid/levothyroxine is used to supplement it. You don't treat hypERthyroidism with Synthroid/levothyroxine as you are already suffering from your thyroid producing too much of the hormone thyroxin.

    Hyperthyroidism

Well, after a bout of Hyperthyroidism, Asthma, and Clostridium Dithile, (C-Diff), and almost 2 years I was able to finally make my Fight Physical appointment for November 2, 2016. I have lost weight, am off of blood pressure medication, (BP last night was 121/75 & I am 69 years old.) The only...

    hyperthyroidism and medical

Low TSH does NOT make for a hyperthyroidism diagnosis! You need a high Free T4 or Free T3. Total T4 and total T3 make zero sense in pregnancy. Right now, it appears you can still fly (limited information!).

    hyperthyroidism and medical

Wait for Dr. Bruce to answer, but I know someone who had a waiting period (a few weeks?) after starting to take meds for his low TSH. Obviously he was not pregnant so maybe it was a different condition than you have. :dunno:

...stage right now. He has said odds are it will resolve completely OR turn into postpartum hypothyroidism after a short period of hyperthyroidism. Of course, there's always the chance I could stay hyper. It looks like controlled hypothyroidism isn't too big of a deal for the FAA, but how...

    fertility meds

TSH doesn't measure hyperthyroidism. It's usxed to measure hypothyroidism. All I can say is, if it went up (TSH) in response to LHRH, the agency would just require a normal value after the expen$$ive course of LH+RH injections was concluded. Metformin is a problem.I think it best to stand down...

    Thyroid issues

It's not the meds, it's the condition. The meds for hyperthyroidism (like tapazole) would indicate a state in which no issuance can occur. Stable hypothyroid hormone replacement, documented, however, is not an issue.

...surprise me if the FAA delayed action. Therein lies my question. I have a third class special issuance medical (hypertension and hyperthyroidism - both well controlled). I plan to take Dr. Chien’s advice and have a through work up with my primary care physician and, if my AME will do...
