People helping me to have fun flying.

Sounds like a good plan. You might want to consider following the 210 to the 605. You can follow the 605 all the way down to KSLI. It can be hard to pick out landmarks in the LA basin expecially at low altitude.

People helping me to have fun flying.

The SLI VOR is on the field that makes it easier to find. It's big and not too hard to spot. Use flight following and/or stay above 2500 ft and you don't have to worry about FUL. Also LGB is nearby and also easy to spot so don't get them confused.

Nor Cal to So Cal along coast...any tips?

I have to start by saying I have never used any of the VFR routes through LAX but the Mini route says "LAX must be in a west traffic or over-ocean configuration". Landing over the ocean isn't going to be happening unless there is a Santa Ana blowing. I can't figure out if that statement is...

Nor Cal to So Cal along coast...any tips?

Sometimes they hold jets on the taxiway between 19R and 19L, if you are landing on 19L check that area and stay above the jet blast.

Nor Cal to So Cal along coast...any tips?

A 060 heading from the pier will get you headed in the right direction until you see the airport. If it's not busy you will probably get right traffic for 19R, if it's busy you will get "cross the tower at or above 1200 ft enter left downwind for 19L, contact tower on 119.9" pattern altitude for...

You had better luck with Raspbmc then I did but like I said in my previous post openelec was much better for me.

    [NA] DIY home media server

Update. I did some reading so I tried openelec for the Pi today and it is much better. The menus are smooth and it never randomly reset. It did lock up a couple times trying to use airplay to play a video but that may have been because I didn't have the settings in XBMC correct because it...

I borrowed a Pi and tried it last night. There seems to be 3 versions for the Pi, I loaded this one http://www.raspbmc.com/ Very easy to load the Memory card from a windows machine. After you load the memory card, you install it in the Pi and turn it on then wait at least 30 minutes...

    NA %^*}^ VW Jetta NA

Nate, If you get bored you can go to http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisplay.php?574-Automatic-Transmission-Forum and read about everyones automatic transmission problems. Don't know which transmission you have but VW uses Aisin a lot and those are not made in Germany. From my reading the...

Help! Planning a dual XC into class B airspace

12/30 is the main runway for the Jets and IFR traffic. 25L is normally used for inbound VFR traffic and pattern work. You can request either but it may be easier to setup for the left pattern for 25L and you may have to go to Signal Hill to enter the pattern.

Flying into SNA/John Wayne Airport later, a class C. Any advice?

Moving stuff is always fun, at least it is a cool day. I remember the year I spent at UCSB, too much Ultimate Frisbee not enough studying. I hope the marine layer lets up more than the forecast so you can get out of there.

Flying into SNA/John Wayne Airport later, a class C. Any advice?

Looks like we will be having the Marine layer through the weekend. Today should be the worst, I am 3 miles from the airport and it is still OVC, the forecast is for late AM clearing after today. Enjoy the flight and your stay. greg

Flying into SNA/John Wayne Airport later, a class C. Any advice?

I wouldn't go down to CRQ. It will probably be a little cheaper for fuel and tie down but you have to spend more time and gas to get there. Atlantic is going to charge you a daily fee or you have to buy their expensive gas. Atlantic is on the East side and very easy to get to the freeway to go...

Flying into SNA/John Wayne Airport later, a class C. Any advice?

The VFR departure clearance you should get is "Turn left/right heading XXX, maintain VFR at or below 2400, advisories on fff.ff, squawk nnnn." at some point in your climb the tower will tell you contact Socal. It is your responsibility to remain out of the airspace you shouldn't be in, mainly...
