Central Coast of CA to KSNA - best route?

Thanks everyone who responded. Looks like the coastal route is the way to go (weather permitting). Otherwise, I'll go with my original plan.

Central Coast of CA to KSNA - best route?

I'm based out of San Luis Obispo, CA - KSBP. My boss works in Irvine, right next to John Wayne / Orange County Airport - KSNA. He'd like me to come down to that office for a couple days, and I'd rather fly than drive. It's only about an hour an a half as the crow flies, but that straight line...

Anyone in the Phoenix area - KDVT or KSDL?

That's good to know. Wife was a little worried with it being so close to Phoenix. Thanks for the tips.

Anyone in the Phoenix area - KDVT or KSDL?

Oh. There's a restaurant on the field? So, can we park there and meet them there and then just have lunch? That sounds the easiest.

Anyone in the Phoenix area - KDVT or KSDL?

So I'm assuming there's parking on the public side of the FBO, and then they can just come in the front door and meet us in the lounge or something? Just for lunch. We'll be stopping at DVT on our way to SEZ.

Anyone in the Phoenix area - KDVT or KSDL?

So then I guess my next question would be: Is there a certain place my friend should meet me? Do they just go to the terminal, and when asked by ground, do I just request transient parking, or something in particular to make meeting up easier?

Anyone in the Phoenix area - KDVT or KSDL?

I'm burning 100LL, so it sounds like DVT is the choice. Excellent. That was very helpful. Thank you.

Anyone in the Phoenix area - KDVT or KSDL?

Going to be visiting a friend in the Phoenix area in October this year. They live near Carefree, but I talked to the manager at 18AZ and since it's a private airport, they will only give permission to land there if you live there, or if you are staying at one of the two resorts there, which I...

    KSBP Closures for Rehabilitation

That's what I thought as well, so I planned a trip from KSBP to KIZA tomorrow (7/11), returning on 7/12. And then I read closer and saw that the airport is COMPLETELY closed for 7/12 and 7/13, so I would not have been able to return!

Yes. Did my flight training there, and my PA-28-180 is currently based there.

VIDEO: SoCal flying to Santa Ynez with a close call, bike riding to Solvang

Awesome. Thanks guys. Looking forward to it. I already flew over there and landed and came back just to make sure I had no issues with Navigation (didn't want my first time landing there to also be with a nervous flyer. :-)), but didn't get out and check around for the path. This...

VIDEO: SoCal flying to Santa Ynez with a close call, bike riding to Solvang

Wow. Those look like some cool trails. However, we're not bringing the "real" bikes with us. :-) They have to fit in the back of my PA-28-180, so they are just little folding eBikes. It's only 5 miles from KIZA to Solvang, so they have more than enough range, but I wouldn't take them any...

Nice! Thanks! So, it looks like you have to stay on 246 for a bit before the trail, and then again after it. Hopefully there's not too much traffic. :-)

Probably a very typical story: started my PPL training over 20 years ago. Got in about 30 hours or so and then kids and life got in the way. Started it up again last year. Took me another 30 or hours to finish. Got my PPL this past May of 2021. Found a four person partnership on a...

VIDEO: SoCal flying to Santa Ynez with a close call, bike riding to Solvang

Do you happen to have any info you can link to for the bike trail from Santa Ynez airport to Solvang? My wife and I are planning on landing at this airport soon and staying a night in Solvang, and we'd like to make use of the bike trial, but I cannot find any information on it other than what...
