I did mine in 41 hours total time 15 dual with CFII (10 hrs dual in a BATD, 5 hrs dual in an Airplane) 26hrs with safety pilot. Yes it's possible to get your ifr with the minimum dual time. I spent about 15 hrs on the ground with my CFII doing ground work. Something that helped me greatly...

Used King for the ground to get the written endorsement, then used Sheppard for the written. Like stated above, FOLLOW Sheppard's study plan for their program. It works! I got a 98% on my IFR

You have to activate the approach for everything to work properly. Going direct to a fix is just that. Just like going to any other GPS waypoint.

I did mine with the minimum 15 hrs w/ a CFII, the rest was safety pilot.

Yes I've read that. I understand that hours count towards simulated instrument hours. Maybe i'm not understanding it correctly but I don't see where it has to be a CFII or that it counts towards the minimum CFII hours. It just says authorized instructor (61.65 (i)(2).

I just got done doing the max 10 hrs in a sim with a CFII. Can the hours with the CFII in the sim count towards the minimum 15 hrs instruction from a CFII for an instrument rating? or does it have to have 15 actual flying hours?
