    Video for Plane

Did you have an HD version? I think the HD is a complete redesign as I haven't had any of the problems you describe, except the fact that the menus are a little slow. Audio input would be nice though. As for mounting, the suction cup seems to work very well. I'm thinking of using a separate...

    Video for Plane

I like my GoPro Hero HD - great video quality, battery lasts hours (I filmed a recent flight from HPN-WWD in its entirety in 720p, then a bunch of the return flight as well without a recharge), the sound is pretty good (although no hookup for external audio). I'm planning to use it for skydiving...

    Last night's flight

TCAS II only commands vertical resolution advisories (descend/climb) so I don't think this would be a factor for the FRZ? I think TCAS III was slated to include horizontal advisories, but the Wikipedia article says it's not being actively developed.

According to this FAA page, TCAS-I is only required for 10+ seats (the AS350 has 7) http://adsb.tc.faa.gov/TCAS.htm

Flying club? The good, the bad, the ugly???

Some more pluses: - Our club has no daily minimum, so long trips are practical (nearest FBO has a 5 hour daily minimum on weekends) - Our club has Bonanzas for $175/hr. FBO rents 172s for that (granted they're new and have G1000, but we've got IFR GPSs in our fleet) If you want to fly every...

    Helicopter/Small Plane Down in Hudson

They posted the pictures up on the Fox News site: http://www.foxnews.com/slideshow/U.S./2009/08/08/midair-collision-hudson-river?slide=1

Yeah, it seems like incredibly poor taste for them to do this.

    Helicopter/Small Plane Down in Hudson

Yeah, I like that idea too. They might want to use a slightly higher limit for helicopters, so they can get over the GWB with enough clearance. Maybe 600 or 700 ft. Amazing photos on Fox News. I wonder if there's any video of this?

    Helicopter/Small Plane Down in Hudson

His quote that I liked a lot was in that article: ~~~ snip ~~~~ The Mayor, who does have his pilot's license, said, "If you want to look at the numbers, we have very few accidents for an awful lot of traffic. And any time you have an automobile accident, you're not going to go and close the...

    Helicopter/Small Plane Down in Hudson

I've never heard Bloomberg say anything that was in any way anti-aviation, much to the contrary, even when Cory Lidle crashed into the building, he was very level-headed and tried to calm concerns and calls to close the VFR airspace around Manhattan. In the end they did end up restricting the...

    Helicopter/Small Plane Down in Hudson

Below 1100' to avoid the class-bravo. In my experience, helicopters are usually at around 700'. It is a zoo, but fun and safe if you keep your eyes outside and make proper position reports (and listen for those of others). Every time I've flown it (in both rotor & fixed wing), traffic has been...

    Helicopter/Small Plane Down in Hudson

I was walking down by the river when this happened and saw the response - tons of police cars, boats and NYPD/Port Authority helicopters. Bloomberg was very level-headed (he's a pilot, rotor and fixed wing, after all) in the press conference - so I'm hopeful they won't overreact and close the...

Our 27th Consecutive Oshkosh -- Anyone else going?

I'm planning to fly in for the first time on Sunday (hopefully early) in a '65 v-tail Bonanza. Any thoughts on North 40 versus Vintage for parking/camping?

    # of routing changes mid-flight

I got two reroutes on a recent flight from HPN-CLT (plus the original clearance given to me was wrong and it took them 20 minutes on the phone to fix it), then on the return trip another two reroutes (original clearance was direct destination - I knew that was too good to be true when CD gave it...

    First akro experience...

Another vote for the Extra 300 - I flew with Craig Fordem at The Aerobatic Experience in Boulder City, NV (near Vegas). Sweet airplane! Fun times!
