    Avionics, Particularly a KI 214

Last I knew they were still around. Been a few months since a hangar mate sent him a radio, but all was good then. Steve

    Avionics, Particularly a KI 214

Yep saw the IA behind your name. Been around the block for quite a while, on my third airplane. OP says he's a new owner, so instead of giving him advise that may get him sideways with his IA, who already presumably knows the thing doesn't work, I gave him advise that is helpful and keeps him...

    Avionics, Particularly a KI 214

Best way to do this if it's in need of repair is to talk to your A&P IA about his willingness to accept re-installing a non 8130-3 tagged repair of your unit. If he doesn't have a problem with it, and probably won't unless he's operating a repair station, then check all the wiring and ensure the...

Life expectancy of an aircraft on lease back

Leased back to a flight school, never. It'll generally cash flow well half the year and suck cash the remaining half leaving you close to break even at best. About the time the the plane comes close to creating a profit, a student or newly minted PP will strike the prop, taxi into a chain or run...

    Firewall

Problem with what you posted here is you ignored the words which preceded your emphasized fragment, particularly "Participating in the design of the part can include supervising the manufacture of the part..." the 'or' where you began your emphasis and everything that follows it is moot if you...

    Mosquito Antics

As I remember it, you are correct, a slip stalls the lifted wing first and a skid stalls the lowered wing. To spin to the outside of a turn, you would need to be skidding in the turn when you stalled the wing. Steve

    BMW *sigh*

I agree. The other problem with those raw numbers is there is no indication of problem type and fixes required. One of the worst marketing decisions some of the luxury auto makers ever did, IMHO, was to build and sell an "affordable" line. With easier credit and a 30k entry price point...

    BMW *sigh*

If you don't even get a click it has nothing to do with the key system. Battery might be toast and no power to turn it over but enough to power the electronics maybe? When the key/security module go "out of alignment" the car will crank over, just never actually start. Had it happen to my X5...

Commander 112 (hard to stay warm)

I cut a piece of soft foam into a 6.25" cube a placed it into the vent under the rear divan(plastic piece under the seat) then reinstalled divan and rear seat. Some air still enters the vent at times, but not enough to matter and it doesn't have to be removed in the summer. I also reattached the...

    Co-Axe fittings

Agree 100%. If only we could convince the FAA that this should fall under routine/preventative maintenance, the manufacturers would sell far more hardware and we could see prices closer to the experimental world. There was nothing hard about the 430 install in my last plane, except the...

What would it take to get those plans to change? Anything? Would absolutely attend if it was in Denver, otherwise I guess I'll keep an eye open for OK in the spring. Steve

Contempt is a criminal complaint, so be careful and tread lightly. http://www.courts.ca.gov/forms.htm?filter=EN FL-410 - order to show cause and affidavit for contempt Having given you that, take some free advice from some random guy on a pilot forum and hire an attorney. Nobody can...

    Getting Pattern Direction in flight

I would think most examiners would allow you to use Foreflight, but be ready for it to suddenly overheat or suffer a dead battery just when you need it the most. The runway symbol on the chart should give you a marginal idea of runway heading, listening to CTAF for other traffic in the...

    Getting Pattern Direction in flight

Look at the airport on your chart, if there is a runway with Right traffic it will be listed, e.g. RP 15 which means right traffic for runway 15. Steve

    Private checkride went horribly wrong!

Your buddy lets you barrel roll and spin his Cirrus? That's awesome, I guess I should consider one when looking for a new aerobatic plane. Thanks!! Steve Just trying to help us get to 1000.
