    Inline headset PTT button

The tower could hear him, I just couldn’t in the left seat. After some research and the fabulous help I received from the David Clarke company it was noted that all these PTT buttons have 2 contacts, one to key the radio and one for the microphone isolating it from the intercom. There is a fix...

    Inline headset PTT button

I have a panel mounted isocom intercom with a hard wired PTT on the left side. I bought a cheap Velcro WWP103 PTT From a local avionics shop for my instructor. When he was talking with tower I could not hear him. The spruce description does says not intended to be used for panel mount intercoms...

    ADSB Garmin vs Skybeacon

Thanks guys, I knew there was different frequencies and you should choose wisely depending on your mission if you want weather etc. I was unaware about the ground based 3rd party only receiving 1090.

    ADSB Garmin vs Skybeacon

I have a Garmin GTX 345 installed in one airplane and a skybeacon installed in another. My wife likes to see where I am and how my trips are progressing at any given time. My Garmin shows up flightradar24 and flight aware, my skybeacon shows up sporadically only on flight aware only after I have...

    3-5 Day Ground School

I will have to agree. I went to Aviation Seminars for my private and Instrument. They do send you a booklet of test questions which requires study. Unfortunately, many went in with zero knowledge with hopes to get a free ride to pass their exam. I went well prepared after doing the Sporty's...

    IFR Weekend Ground School

I did Aviation Seminars after I did the sporty's course. It really helped clearing up some of the troubled areas I was having. If you are doing it as a stand alone course, forget it. there is to much to take in and to much to know.

    ADSB Tracking

A local club has ADSB blocking for their aircraft for 3rd parties like flightradar24. If anyone has done this and how is it done?

    Accelerated IFR training

That's a big fat NOPE from me, there are many other options. GATTS isn't what they used to be.

    Failing iPad on check ride?

If I could go back I would. During my training my flight instructor was apparently doing me a disservice by failing the iPad and 430 so I was afraid the DPE would to. My iPad wasn’t on and I didn’t even use the 430 to shoot an ILS approach, I used my secondary radio and indicator. That’s what he...

Simulated Instrument Time in Logbook on AATD

I asked the same question. The column is simulated flight actual not for simulator. Mine is logged the same way with my Sporty’s logbook, no issues at all, as long as your 20 hours is logged.

    Failing iPad on check ride?

I would have to agree, it was the same scenario during my checkride. My instructor had me so petrified the DPE was going to fail my iPad and 430 I did everything old school. My DPE was actually angry and wondered why I didn’t use all the tools in my toolbox... go figure.

    Log book record keeping

All the work that has been done to my airplane has been documented and signed by AP/IA. The question is to all tags that came with new equipment and the yearly AD's need to be stapled in the log book or just kept with all the records?

Getting the shaft, need help wrapping up PPL

Your first solo IMC flight after passing checkride

I did, my long XC was all IMC and a dozen approaches were actual.

Your first solo IMC flight after passing checkride

I’m in no rush to use my newly issued instrument rating. I have the utmost confidence in myself and my well equipped airplane to do this. The question is, the first time how did you guys take the plunge and say let’s do this or what was the situation that made you use it.

IFR Training (VOR) Scenario Help for Learning

Yes, I worded that improperly. Thanks! Head to the VOR, 147º to the OM at Veron (IAF), fly the outbound localizer course to the barb and make your procedure turn inbound.

IFR Training (VOR) Scenario Help for Learning

We have the almost identical approach at our local airport but we don't have an arc, this is an option as well. ILS Z, Head to the VOR, 147º to the OM at Veron (IAF), pick up the back course of the localizer and make your turn to intercept the localizer.

    E6B - Manual vs Electronic

The ASA CX-3 flight computer is well worth the money. I used mine for IRA, CAX, IGI, AGI and CFI written exams. With all the features it provides I find it way underpriced plus the simplicity of it is remarkable.
