    Any Hunters in Here?

Ok, I have a gun shop that sells around 2500 guns a year, I am the opposite as far as forums go, I mostly hang out on gun forums. The Ruger American 308 is an excellent choice. You can get them packaged with a Vortex Crossfire scope for around $680ish. That will handle all your needs...

Cities known for wind, where you've landed

I live in the orange. I usually don't go joyriding if its 15knots or higher more than 30-40 off the runway but I have landed in much worse in my 172. We didn't practice "crosswind landings", we just called them "landings" back in training ;)

    Was I being unreasonable?

Please keep us updated, this is very interesting. Sounds like you may be a patsy to the "good ol boys" club. "Hey Gene, let's get some other suckers to help pay for a new engine and avionics in our plane, then stick it to em"

    Cooperstown and carrington ND

Just a guess but I believe the people that do the tours are just locals that live nearby. If you call to set up a tour I bet they would pick you up at the airport.

    Cooperstown and carrington ND

As Wannfly stated I am based in Carrington, about 60 miles from Cooperstown. I didn't even realize Cooperstown had a courtesy car but I assume you could just call the number for the airport manager and ask, it probably rings to the city office.

    Cooperstown and carrington ND

Thanks for visiting. I hadn't flown for awhile, I don't normally fly in the cold winter months. I went up around 5 and did a few laps around the pattern to make sure I still know how to land a plane haha. After that a buddy came out and we just went buzzing around the area, looking at the...

Yes, that was me in the blue/white Cessna that landed while you were holding in the turnout area.

once the wheels leave the ground....

I guess because the airframe weighs much more than the propeller. When I'm walking why does my body move on the earth instead of the earth moving under my feet?;)

How much airplane can you get for $1,000 monthly budget?

That's around what I spend a year with my 172N. The plane I bought was $40,000, I paid 10K, financed 30K for 5 years. I do a yearly payment of around $7000. My hangar rent is $125/month. Insurance is $850 or so. My annual usually runs about $250 since the plane I bought was very well taken...

first XC after PPL - weather diversion, VFR on Top and ADM

Flying up here I've canceled more than a few flights because of the weather. It's only a 15min fly to KJMS from the airport I have my plane parked at.

    St. Maarten TAF - 300140g160kt

Wow, that is nuts. What do they do for places like that? Get all commercial jets out of the area ahead of time or just shove them in hangers? What about smaller GA aircraft? I imagine tiedowns wouldn't hold.

    Hangar vs Tie Down

Where I'm at I don't think a plane would be lucky enough to survive 1-2 years parked on the ramp. Between high winds, hail, yearly temperature swings of 150 degrees and the occasional tornado it would play heck with a plane outside.

Which battery do I need? Best place to buy?

Replacing the battery in my Cessna 172N, took it out tonight and it is a Gill G-242. One of my instructors told me to get a Concorde but I see they are $550ish online versus and $225 for the Gill OEM. Does it really matter or should I pony up for the Concorde? Where is the best place to get...

Think this pilot is going to be in some big trouble

Just saw this that a friend had shared on Facebook. Initial post they said it was a spray pilot buzzing a ground sprayer. Someone commented the "real story" whether he knows or not he stated the pilot borrowed the plane from a friend, was buzzing the town nearby "inches above the power lines"...

What kind of marketing scam is this?

I get those from Amazon all the time. I don't think its anything out of the ordinary. I've never seen it from anyone other than Amazon but I applaud the company that checks others who have purchased the same item as someone that has issues with said item.

Exposing loved ones to the risks associated with GA

I think about this alot, I am not a pro pilot by any means, more of a dumb farmer with a PPL and an airplane. I might think more about than someone who flies a few hundred hours a year. I only get about 15 hours or so in a year, mostly a few 1hr joyrides and a longerish trip once or twice a...

Educate me, coriolis effect, longest sniper shot, flying

OK, so I have an airport exactly 100 miles West of me and one that is 100 miles East of me, all other variables the same except Coriolis does it take less time to get to the one West of me?

Educate me, coriolis effect, longest sniper shot, flying

I work in the gun industry part time so when the longest sniper shot in recorded history happens usually there is some banter and questions. Yesterday a Canadian sniper was credited at making a kill shot at over 2 miles. A lot goes into making a shot that long, over 600ft of bullet drop over...
