    Alternator CB popped

I am looking for info/advise for my alternator CB popping situation. The day before I was to leave for KOSH I was taking my AA5B out for a 1 hr flight. It started normally and during the run up I noticed the battery discharging. I cycled the alternator switch and then saw the alternator CB...

    I need a little advice......

I do not know which one they used first. I have another question though. Is there a need to add a different squitter and add it to another location on the aircraft bottom? I would have preferred using the old squitter location. Now I have another hole and two squitters.

    I need a little advice......

The Dynon shop changed the thermocouples and now the temp readings are better.

    I need a little advice......

Thanks for the great info Jesse. The shop is going to get a few more days with it. There was some paint damage to my plane so they can take care of squawks. Afterwards, I’ll call if I have issues!

    I need a little advice......

I just got my airplane back after a complete panel upgrade. I added the Dynon engine monitoring suite to better integrate the system. I have a Grumman AA5B and noticed several items when 9i got it home. my main concern is my CHT's. The system indicates high 200's to very low 300's. Normal...

How to put pressure on FAA regarding non-TSOd avionics

The reason that can be cited is that nonTSOd EFIS are safe and reliable is because empirical data says so. Tens of thousands of experimentals are flying safely, IFR, with superb SA. Synthetic Vision, large easy to read AI, Flight Director, etc.......all FO 1/4 to 1/5 the cost of certified...

How to put pressure on FAA regarding non-TSOd avionics

Thanks for all the input.....I think the rewrite of part 23 will happen. The FAA will eventually have to do something since technology is far surpassing them. I mean "vacuum pumps" and little mechanical instruments in 2016? I do not want to start on Magneto Ignition Pressure needs to be...

How to put pressure on FAA regarding non-TSOd avionics

I have a 1979 Tiger that I want to redo the panel on. This would be a complete new panel with purchase of Avidyne GPS, Avidyne Transponder, PS Engineering audio/com, EI 30P(TSOd engine monitor), a Dynon D100(pilot side) and D10a(rt side). I would then reuse my Stec30, and clock. The new panel...

    Why not a Tiger?

I've had my 1979 Tiger for 19 months and love it. I've flown the Piper's and the Cessna's and immediately knew upon flying a Cheetah that I wanted one. Ground handling, balance of the controls, visibility, speed, and ease of entry are excellent. I do not fly in the rain and don't see to many...

He was at the a Pecan Plantation Flyin last weekend Nice airplane and apparently a darn good pilot. No damage and walks away.

How to put a G3X in a certified plane.

This is the problem with the FAA bureaucracy. In thirty more years they will still demand light planes either use expensive EFIS systems that are worth more than the plane or vacuum pump systems. There is no regard for affordability of quality, reliable non TSO'd avionics. I want to toss all...

    Question for the Grumman guys

What was the AA5C From Ken Blackmon Answer: That was probably the "Turbo Tiger" or "Panther" as it was to be named. I have photos of it at Savannah. if interested, I can e-mail them to you after scaning them into the computer. It had (as I was told) the Lycoming TO-360 engine but I have...

    Avionics Upgrade

I just spoke with the Avidyne rep regarding the IFD 540/440. Sounds like a great unit. Much more efficient than GNT 650/750. He said it would be out in April or May. No price given. They give a big discount if one has a GNT to trade in and their unit just plugs right in using the Garmin...

    Avionics Upgrade

So the question becomes will I get enough utility from the 430 to justify installing then possibly another upgrade.

    Avionics Upgrade

I've spoken with an Aspen Avionis rep and he strongly recommended the 1000 pro coupled to a GNS 430W. He said it would be cheaper and would do everything the 650 would do. So my question is will Garmin continue to support the 430 and 530 another 10 years? Apparently there are a couple of...

    Avionics Upgrade

If I go with the GTN 650, might I be better off losing the verticle compass and putting in a used King KI 525A HSI($1000-$2200) instead of the Garmin GI 106A? Seems that for the same price I get instant greater value.

    Avionics Upgrade

I spoke to a shop and like the price so is there a difference in quality of work from one place to another? I figured I would ask for three or four references to find out how their installs went.
