    Shed/Hangar Combo

After much trying (about 15 years worth) I have finally converted my wife over to the idea of living in the country. I envision a small farm (~80 acres or so) with a small grass strip that I would fly my yet to be built homebuilt off of. Does anyone have any experience with buildings constructed...

    Broken Cirrus on Ebay

Anyone know how hard it is to fix the composite airframe? What does it cost to replace the parachute? I would think that any wing damage could be fixed by just replacing the affectd wing. It looks as though the tail is separated from the rest of the aircraft. If someone was looking for an SR22...

So, is flipping the bird free speech or not?

I don't know about free speech, my best guess is it would depend on who the judge is and what kind of mood they're in that day. I have heard of (probably just urban legend, but who knows) people being cited for 3rd Degree Assault for flipping off other motorists. I do have first hand knowledge...

    Non-aviation GPS Units

I've been researching into buying a non-aviation GPS unit, mainly for the wife to use while driving (can't find her @$$ with both hands) but also for use on vacations, etc. I have very limited exposure to the Garmin V and was thinking of something along that line, although it doesn't necessarily...

    Movie quotes

John Wayne-wasn't his character's name John Jacob McClintock? In the movie McClintock, of course.

    Chocolate

We have a local candy factory in a small burg on the drive from our house to my parents'. Baker's Candies, not sure where they rate in the grand scheme of things, but definitely better than the regular mass produced over the counter stuff and more than good enough for my palate. Their dark...

    My new (to me) Tiger

I would love to give a Tiger a try. Alas, there are limited aircraft available for rent in my area, and a Tiger is not among them. Were Narco radios standard equipment for Tigers at one time?

    HOAs

I received a bill for $75 for annual homeowners association dues early this year (we built the house last year). If that is what every house in the subdivision pays, they're raking in a pretty good penny for doing essentially nothing other than enforcing covenants (there are several hundred...

    Thats a BIG plane...

I flew through Miami International this morning. Isn't this one of the airports in the U.S. making modifications to be able to handle these monsters? Just wondering because there was a fair amount of construction/remodelling going on there, thought this may be the purpose.

Bank Robber Tries to High Jack Cessna

I was a cop in what seems like was another lifetime. When I started in law enforcement (late 1980's) semi-autos were just coming on the scene. In fact, half of my academy class (including me) were still carrying revolvers. 6 rounds in the weapon, 12 extra rounds in the 2 speedloaders. When I...

    Sunglasses

I'm with Steve on this-I usually pick up a pair of Wal-Mart specials. I don't think I've ever paid more that $15 for a pair of sunglasses. That way when I lose them or one of the kids sits/steps on them I'm not out much. I do look for ones that have 100% UV protection.

Project Viking, lost puppy or lost cause?

I love the looks of the Vikings. How comfortable is the average A & P working on them? I've never seen one in person and I don't think they're too common in my area, I would be worried about being able to find someone local qualified/comfortable working on one.

    Bad stove burners [NA]

How good is the rest of the stove? Does the oven work properly, timers, etc. all work? If everything else is working properly, I would be tempted to spend the $120 to keep it going. If other things are on their last legs, too, I don't think I would put that much into it.

PTW, our worst airport experience ever, bar none

Joe, weren't you in law enforcement once, or am I thinking of someone else? My guess would be this person was probably given some spiel about watching out for the airport and suddenly thought he had some sort of special power or authority. And if you've ever been around a bad cop before, you...

Tiger vs Cessna panel, which do you like?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I have to ask it: Why do all the Grumman/American airplanes I see have the words "NO HOLD" posted on the dash?

    A Viking - Hey Dave?

The Continental engine has the 1700 hour TBO, doesn't it? Never seen one in person, but I love the looks of them in the photographs I've seen. Nothing like a fast, high flying plane to whet the appetite of a Cherokee driver.

Project - Yankee or Yanked Around?

Greg-I'm not very far from Wayne (as the crow, or Cherokee as it would be, flies) and I would be happy to help you load it up.

Project - Yankee or Yanked Around?

Stuff like this makes you wonder what else is lying around in peoples' garages, sheds, barns, etc.
