Got the same destin flight planned for sat. That will be my longest flight so far. Showing about 600 nm. With weather and mvfr showing most am, will file ifr for this one.

Based in mckinney TKI and they have done a great job redoing the fbo. Very friendly and great place to stop. Fuel prices also better than before

I was in same situation. Based here in mckinney and got my ir rating start of summer. I use the plane to take family/ friends on trips etc. I've been in imc on 3 out of four trips so far this summer during some aspect. I could have maintained vfr but it would have us descending into Dfw way...

Just passed my ifr checkride. It was crazy. Glad it is over. Been having fun now out of the foggles and actually enjoying the clouds. It does really make you a better pilot to get that done. Keep it up all!

Sept sounds good. I still will probably come fri and sat June 6/7 for a night to check it out since I've not been and already got the weekend off with family to come. Not that far from Dallas. Thanks for sorting this all out.
