CFI's Scared to sign off for Solo?

I am training in a Cessna 150 and the 50 hours has been accumulated over less than 4 months, I go at least twice a week since I read and believe it would be better to build skills without major gaps in training. I'm no dummy, the last hobby I took up was ham radio, passed my Tech, General...

CFI's Scared to sign off for Solo?

:hairraise: I'm 50 hours over the past 4 months. As more time goes by I'm feeling less and less confidant...I feel like if can take off and land without damage to me, property or the plane, and I DO think my instructor knows that too.

CFI's Scared to sign off for Solo?

You are probably right but I don't want to be wrong, maybe I'm more dangerous than I think...so I needed to get objective opinions. It's also a small area and if I go to another CFI I'm sure word will travel.

CFI's Scared to sign off for Solo?

I have to ask this...please be honest with me....are there any CFI's out there that fear signing off students to solo for "gut reasons", or fearful they really should not fly, or fear they may impact their reputation, or if a student is older in age? Please I am not judging just need to...

    When is it time????

I truly appreciate all your comments, honesty and spirited discussion. The last thing I want to do is show any weakness or negativity as a student..I've never failed at anything in life and I don't want to start now. I fear my CFI might need a break from me too...I think I've been the worse...

    When is it time????

Thank you for posting that!!!! I really want to do this so I appreciate there is some hope for me....I'll get another CFI to critique me.

    When is it time????

My CFI is only a bit younger than me and a friend...my big fear is he might feel like he's in a difficult spot telling me to give this up. Honestly, this is something I really want to do and it's a way I could see my daughter and granddaughter who live hundreds of miles away...I'm usually...

    When is it time????

I'm flying a Cessna 150..twice a week, an average of about 3.5 hours total each week...so I'm certain it's not the aircraft.

    When is it time????

I was practicing slow flight prior to doing pattern work..I think my CFI expected me to be done with pattern work in about 10 hours...he does say in a polite and joking manner that I am a bit on the "slow learning" side, but it's not in a nasty or demeaning way, I do know this is taking me a...

    When is it time????

When is it time to pull the plug on training? I'm starting to think I'm just too old (I'm 60) and too uncoordinated to fly. After 43 hours, including 23 flying the traffic pattern I'm just starting to have some "ok" landings...I'm not always on the centerline, and I don't always have a...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Jason I fly about twice a week, I book blocks of two hours each session and end up with about 3.5 hours of flight time on the Hobbs...I also fear I'm going to wear down my CFI :( when I'm not flying any chance I get I try to "fly in my mind"....not sure if it might help but I hope it might...I...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Well, that would be me...I have over 38.5 hours, (18.4 in the traffic pattern), still am not even close to being able to land on my own...I'm starting to become very, very discouraged....I really want to be able to do this but maybe I'm just too old.:mad2: I'm hoping landings will click with...
