    Re: Is it true that it is easier to spot a plane flying from the ground than in the a I've always had difficulty judging what an aircraft 1000' (any altitude) below or above me at different ranges is pictorially when scanning around the sky and I've never been really taught a quick fix for it...

    Nailed it, though I wouldn't worry about using time and money in a complex ASEL. Depending on what light twin you plan on training in there really isn't that much you would benefit from ASEL complex. Most of your light twin trainers are docile enough. Get the complex hours with your AMEL

    Doesn't sound like you need a kick in the pants from us, it sounds like you have all the motivation you need. Don't worry about the time spent not flying, when it's time, practice and practice to proficiency and you'll be ready. Enjoy each and every flight and good luck!

    Actual IMC vs. the Foggles?

    I hate foggles just as much as the rest guy. I find flying in actual IMC much more disorienting as previously stated with different shades of color and light going by, but also forces you to keep up your scan that much better. Decent tradeoff!
